Iband With Gastric Sleeve Plication

Recommended Posts

oh ok, I don't think there is any Fluid in band yet, I thought it might be from the plication. Hopefully time will tell if it goes away. It feels better after I drink something.

You might call your Dr. and ask I didn't think I had any and there was they removed 2CC and then they did put that back plus some!!

I had a similar pain in the early days. I think that it stopped after about a week and a half. I think it usally happened in the morning before I had anything to eat or drink

Yep me too. It was a very sharp pain that came and went but I mainly noticed it when I hadn't eaten anything in a while. I assumed it was a combination of gas and maybe some acid reflux but don't worry, it does go away in a couple of weeks.

My doctor told me that he did not put any Fluid in my band because he wanted to make sure that food had an easy escape route if necessary because of the plication. He said normally when they place the band they flush it and that usually leaves a little Fluid in the band. I am scheduled to go get my first fill around the middle of February

Yes that what it feels like! It feels like really bad hunger pains. It happens whenever my stomach is empty. Even if I drink Water it goes away for a bit. I sure hope it does go away soon cause it very uncomfortable.

Well, I have to say I finally have a surgery date! Feb 29!! Oh my!!! But....I am a bit disappointed because my Doctor doesn't want me to add the plication!sad.png Go figure! I am not quite sure why he did not tell me this the first time I mentioned I was thinking of it. I guess after he saw my EGD results, etc...maybe that helped him decide. He did say that because there are more risks in having plication done AND I'm not over 300 lbs, he just doesn't think it's the way for me to go. He really would rather me do just the band. He KNOWS I will be fine with that alone based on what I've told him and how he sees other patients doing. I was a bit surprised by that, but I know he knows best, so I will go on that. I told him I didn't want it for faster weight loss, but to help in less chance of slippage and having fills, AND to be able to keep in case there is an issue that comes up with me not being able to keep the band. He understood my reasoning, but suggests I not have it done, so I feel I must go on his suggestions. :0( Having said that, I do want to thank each of you for your comments regarding plication, because it was because of that, that I decided it was something I wanted.

I have to believe that this is what is best for me, so I just have to wrap my brain around it. I just wish I had known this much earlier because I have had months of thinking of it over and over.....and getting my brain wrapped around the thought of actually having it....and all the reasons of why adding it will benefit me. Now it's just the opposite. And I feel so disappointed, somehow. 001_huh.gif So...anyway.....I just have to focus on getting ready for my pre op now. I am getting more nervous by the day now that I actually have a date. Dear God, please help me through this.

Sassy, I'm so happy for you. I hope the time passes fast for you until your surgery!! I will be praying for you and your recovery... The doc must have his reasons for this decision, however I was not over 300 lbs, But I think my doc really believes that the plication is effective! Don't be disappointed!! You will do just fine with just the lap band!! The 2 week pre-op was a big weight dropper!! In fact I will be doing the liquid diet every other week!! Do make sure you get plenty of Protein after!! If I go a few days my hair begins to fall out, so I am consistent with my protein!!

Thank you for your encouragment and tips, Teri! I appreciate you and your great support. I will be posting some before surgery, I'm sure. Nerves will be getting me. So you will be doing the liquids every other week? Wow!! You are good to be able to do that. I don't know that I could do it every day of the week. Glad all is going well for you.

Fixing to go on a cruise and so I will start tmrw (we leave Saturday)and then when I get back!!

I am sooo happy that I found this part of the discussion board AND that the group stayed here rather than being ran off by Mr. Lapband...

I am just starting my WLS journey and I am strongly considering the Iband with plication. Did ya'll stay overnight when you had the surgery? And, did you strongly consider other procedures? If so, why did you decide to go with the Iband?

I did not stay over night, it's a laproscopic proceedure...so just day surgery.

I went with the lap band & plication. The plication decreases the chances of band slippage, as well as keeps me from over eating. I feel full much faster & do not feel the need to snack between meals. Having both together increases your success, and was definitely the right choice for me.

Thanks for sharing your experience. How long ago did you have the procedure? Are you concerned at all about eventually have to have the band removed from complicaitons?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
