Recommended Posts

I had my 2nd fill Jan 30th . There was the normal problems with me overfilled and had to leave some out . Could not even get Water down .

anyway came home and have been on liquids for over a week , feeling good losing weight , now I have moved on to mushy foods and 2 weeks out I am back to regular foods . Saturday AM . I had a WW carrot cake for Breakfast . well I was not paying attention to my eating and ate to fast . well as it goes it got stuck and I was sick all day . You all know the horrible routine and pain . so I have been on liquids all day sat , sun . well monday AM I was feeling pretty good and hungry so I made a scrambled egg 2 bites and the pain started again . I was so sick again . I am back on liquids and I feel so sore in my band area . it burns and it even hurts if I drink water to fast or take a gulp . please tell me this is normal I have it aggravated and it will calm down and to just stay on liquids for the rest of the week . I am just getting a little worried I do not know what band slippage or anything else feels like . but I know I never had it feel this bad this long . if you have any advice , or think it is just aggravates please let me know . I want to thank you all now for any feedback and your time . best of luck to you all . and thanks again

Don't panic....i had same issues....1st of all, I can't do cake or muffins or soft bread etc....some people can never eat that stuff with a band....too gooey..........also I was told that scrambled eggs can also cause problems for some people and a "fried egg" is better..............seems that hard types of carb's work better....soda crackers....few tortilla chips...etc....so go back on liquids for two to 3 days and then try something not so gooey........ breakfast.....like a couple pieces of crispy bacon....protein or cream of wheat....:hungry:

Cake sure does not work for me - it's no different than soft gooey bread. Lots of the WW stuff is not good band food. Scrambled aggs are also tricky - they can be dry, and dry STICKS.

What i've been taught is that if you cannot eat decent small meals within 3-4 days max of a new fill, it is too much, and you need some out. Trying to keep a fill that is too much gets people in big trouble. Having to rely on liquids for weeks defeats the band and the "no liquid calorie" rule. The band really only works with solid foods. Hope this helps a bit - Renee

Thanks for your help everyone. well thursday of this week I finally thought I was done with this crazy stuff . I was eating great . was hungry all day and everything went down without a problem . well it certainly did not last long . last night ( friday ) . we decided to order out cause we both had long days . so I ordered a cheesesteak and was going to just eat the meat out of the sandwich . well I took about 2 small bites of the meat and the pain started , so I stopped eating right away and I was up till 1 am in SO much pain . I was ready to go to the ER . I was trying to throw up cause the pain was so bad I just wanted it out of me . I finally got all of it out and was still very sore and exhausted from hours of pain . 3 am I tried a sip of tea and I could just hear it gurgling like a clogged faucet it just did not want to go down . Now I am just afraid to eat period . I had almost a whole can of slimfast today and some cup of Soup with some mash pototaes in to thicken it . and it did go down . I feel much better . I just dont' understand how one day I can be fine and the next day I can't eat anything ? I would say I am to tight but the days I can eat why does everything go down so well . My doctor is in Mexico and the doctors here I don't think will help me cause I had my surgery in mexico . I am not sure if I should go back or try a doctor here or just try to work with it for a few more weeks . I am scared I don't want it to slip or have problems down the road . and I must say I do like the weight coming off but is it worth all the pain ? last night I finally thought nothing is worth this much pain . would love to hear from you all and thanks again

Hello just an update here . I had to go to a local doc yesterday . the pain was unreal . I felt like I was being choked . Well he had to remove all of my fill . I was so upset but he said it was the only way at this point . so now I have to wait about 3 weeks for it to heal then I can go back and start with fills again . I am feeling better , what a relief , but now I really have to watch what I eat , I dont' want to gain any weight back and now I have no restrictions . thanks again for all your help ..

Diane

So glad you are feeling better. I have been there and I know what a relief it is. Just take your time, it is worth the wait, you will lose again. Nothing is worth being overfilled. I am struggling with a abscess on my lung from aspiration from being to full. Trust me you are doing the right thing. I hope this Dr. will continue to see you. I think we all need local Dr's for our band care.

Take care, Kathy

I had the same thing just happen to me. The pain was almost unbearable. My dr removed most of my fill today and she is going to recheck in 2 weeks. Good luck and glad you are feeling better.

Yep, it takes us all a few awful episodes to learn our lesson. On my second fill, I thought I knew best and did not do liquids for 3 - 4 days and then mushies like doc told me. I kept trying to eat reg food and developed one heck of an acid reflux problem and was in pain no matter what I tried to eat, even liquid. Had to go get total unfill and then a little fill and now yesterday went back and doc filled me a little above the 1.8 I was at when I screwed up...now at 1.9. I promised him I would behave and follow the instructions and he laughed and said "you know we give these specific instructions for a reason and if you don't follow them it hurts you not me"!!

Soooooooo bet your bottom dollar this kid is going to be on Soup for 4 days and then mushies for another 4 before starting solids....

Like Jack says, if we suffer enough, we might learn! (But damn I have never been good at following the rules)........always coloring outside the lines!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
