Calories during first 10 days post op

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Hope you all are doing well on your journey. I have pretty good contol right now with some eating desires but concerned I'm not consuming enough during the day. I had my surgery on Monday so only three days out and only drinking very minimal Water, two 100 calorie protien shakes and drank a regular snapple today because I felt so shaky. What were you guys eating during the first ten day post op period. When did you start getting your appetite back? My husband is eating yummy Indian right now and I have no desire. Thanks for your help!

Congrats on your banding! I am currently 3 weeks post op and doing great! As far as my appitite the first 10 days-it was Clear Liquids & full liquids, like creamed Soups (strained), Water, gatorade, milk with &/or without sugar free carnation instant Breakfast, Jello, pudding, very thin malt-o meal, applesauce, etc...

I didn't have a problem with getting my appitite back, I was kinda slow at eating/drinking at first because I was scared to get a blockage. I am now on pureed foods and doing great & ready for a fill in a few weeks!

Hope this helps! I would contact your dietician through your doctors office if you have any worries about not consuming enough calories. I was told that at this point not to worry about getting enough....should only be getting no more than 500 calories per day.

I was maaaaybe getting 300-400 calories the first two weeks. I starting drink milk shakes and smoothies and cut out the sugar free stuff because I was so weak. My dr told me to do that. I started getting my energy back around week two but even then stuff would just wear me out. Take it easy... You'll fell better soon.

Oh and I didn't have an appetite for at least three weeks.

I was probably getting 250 calories a day. I wouldn't resort to milkshakes (only because i think thats a slippery slope) but I did drink a small glass of lower sugar apple juice when I got a headache that wouldn't quit.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
