Who didnt have gas pain

Recommended Posts

I'm just wondering is it possible not to experience all this horrible gas pain that travels to the shoulder, collar bone, and chest pain that I see alot of folks posting about. I'm tentatively scheduled for dec

I didn't have gas pain.

I took gas x. My store didn't have the strips so I chewed the capsules. They had mint inside which was a pleasant surprise. I didn't swallow the capsules, just chewed them till I had to spit them out.

Worked miraculously.

Any gas pain that tried to come I walked out. Farted and burped a lot. I Farted once and my 14 year old son said "mom that was awesome." I was in my bedroom and he was in the living room.

Must be nice to be 14.

Anything is possible. :) Everyone is different, and will experience different levels of pain and discomfort. I had horrible gas pains, my anesthesiologist explained, its not actually gas itself, it is from when the gas/air is put in your abdomen to lift everything up during surgey, the gas hits some kind of nerve, and the pain you feel is from the nerve itself, and you can feel it all over your body. Mine lasted about 6 days. Day 2 and 3 was the worst. But it does get better each day after that. I took gas-x chewables, used a heating pad, walked as much as possible, and popped some tylenol 3. You will feel like crap for a bit, but will be totally worth it!!

I had very little gas pain, maybe 3 times in about 5 days I would get a very sharp pain on the top of my shoulder would last about 3-5 mins and then be gone. It was nothing I even tthought about really. So to say I didnt have gas pain I would say Yes I did not.

I never suffered from the pain ! I was told the more you walk it moves the gas threw your system.

Thats for Sure !!!!!

We stopped at Kmart, and I walked slow with a cart (this is a stop we made on the way home from the Hospital, just after Surgery.)

I pitied anyone behind me, because it started moving out the south end.......

I only had gas pains 3 times that really bothered me and they were the first 24 hours post-op. They dr.s have to deflate your stomach too and maybe some just spend more time deflating it than others. I just walked the 3 times I had it and it worked it out. It wasn't any big deal for me but everyone is different. Good luck!

I never had any. Not sure why since when I had my bowel resection last year I had enormous gas discomfort - little surgical pain but I honestly thought I would pop. Probably since my digestive tract was actually opened up (which it isnt with banding). But with banding - none.

Interestingly I've had 2 colonoscopies this past year and they say to be ready for the gas after that as they fill you with it - never came, makes me nervous that perhaps I was ripping off long, loud farts on the table, lol.

I did not experience much of any kind of gas pains. I read on here to start walking ASAP and I did. I attributed to that.

I am not the exception. I am still having gas and I'm post op day 6. I had some relief, but I think the skim milk brought it back. I had some mashed potatoes when I shouldn't have and I'm suffering for it now.

I did not have any gas pains, but like the others stated, I started walking around as soon as I can and would walk as much as my body would let me. I am also the one who had no pain at all from the surgery and did not take any gas x or pain meds, so I may not be the best source!

I had the gas pain in my shoulder the night of my surgery. It kind of felt like if your shoulder needed to crack. Not excruciating, just annoying. I walked while scissoring my arms up and down which relieved it almost immediately. It never came back. I also did not experience the gas coming out of either end. My stomach was about 10 inches larger when I came home from surgery than it was when I left ( I actually took pictures and sent it out to friends saying "this is what I would look like if I was 6 months pregnant") but it went down about the 5th day.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
