Ok, I've survived 3 days post-op. In general I don't feel really bad, but these gas pains are killing me. I feel like there's a huge gas bubble just under my breast bone. My collar bone is so very sore from gas. My stomach makes grumbling sounds now & again and that provides a little bit if relief. If I could let out a huge belch I think I would feel awesome. I've been going for a minimum of 4 walks a day for 20-30 minutes each. I've tried gas-x but hate them, they almost make me gag. I'm drinking my Water. I've been drinking about 120ml of boost & 1/4 c chicken broth per day. I've also had a few little bites of Jello over the last couple of days. I really don't know what else to do. Any suggestions? I haven't taken T3 since yesterday afternoon, don't think they really help with the gas pains. Looking for other suggestions. I plan to try a warm shower tonight since I can take bandages off today & am allowed to shower.

I know you dont want to hear this but the best cure for it is time. You are doing all of the right things--gas x, walking. A warm shower may help as well as a heating pad. Days3-5 were the worst for me wih gas. Hang in there, it gets better. I am at day 9 and still have some gas. Good luck!

That's not good news...day 3-5 were the worst. I've tried heating pad as well. I was really hoping for some miracle cure but truthfully I didn't expect one. Thanks!!!

Hi,

I had horrible gas pains for the first 3 weeks after surgery. I am now a month out and feel at 100% more like myself, but I still have gas issues. I find that I burp all day long and was told that I should get USE to it, it's normal. I did try the GAS X, but I did the ones that dissolve on your tongue. It wasn't that bad, other than the mint flavor, which I do NOT like. Walking more would be what I would tell you to do. It helps to move things around and you feel better.

I see that you're doing walking about 4x a day. I was told to walk at least 10x a day, for approximately 10-20 minutes each time I was up and walking around. I will say that I couldn't manage the 10 times, but I tried even if I was only up 10 minutes instead of the 20. I tried going to the grocery store on day 5 and it was not a good experience. I hung onto the shopping cart and while I walked for about an hour, I felt horrible the entire time I was there. I don't think I actually felt anywhere near better until the end of the second week. I have a high tolerance for pain, and I wasn't in pain but more uncomfortable from H E double L. I only used the pain meds for 2 days and even then thought I really didn't need them by my husband kept pushing me to take them. They only made me groggy and sleepy and that would interfere with getting up and walking around. So my tip is get up more to walk, but make it only for 10-20 minutes every time you do. Good luck, it will get better !! :D

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
