TOM...

Hi I was banded on 6/20/2011 and have lost 55 lbs! I'm happy with my band, and glad I did it. I'm sorry if the following is TMI, but i need some advice. Anyways, my period has been so messed up since surgery. I started in July and it was normal. Then a few days later my hubby and I had sex and I started spotting. It lasted about a month and I went to the doctor. She did all the tests...blood work, pap, and even an internal ultrasound. She said everything looked fine and it it probably my hormones from the surgery and from losing so much weight so quickly. Well the last week and a half, I have had my period, but it has been very heavy and its been 10 days. Should I go back to the doctor or just wait it out? I just don't know what to do.

I had the same problem. It was probably caused from the rapid weight loss. I went through the same tests. Isn't that ultrasound a treat?! I ended up having endrometrial ablation. That probably won't help you since you are so young. It makes the possibility of pregnancy almost nonexistent. But at 50, it was a bonus!

Thank you Cindy. Now I'm just wondering if it will ever end lol.

I would talk with your doctor again. My period was super messed up after surgery. Did not help that I was on blood thinners after surgery for several months. I asked both at my surgeon and at Gyno if my unstable period was due to weight loss and they said I was'nt losing fast enough to cause problems. Gees thanks. Well I am a year out and this month my period came a whole week early. Great- fabulous. My doctor also ordered that internal ultrasound; urggg.
