Food & Protein Balance

Recommended Posts

I was Banded last Thursday, August 25th, and I am very happy with my decision. I have had the normal pain and discomfort, but and feeling better and better every day!

Today I start my Mushy phase, 3 – 2oz meals a day and taking 60-70gms of Protein and 64ozs of Water.< /span>

One thing I need advice on is the balance between eating all the meals and the protein.

How do you get everything during the day without eating a lot of protein with just water?

Thanks!! :D

I try to drink a Protein Shake every morning as most mornings i am not hungry at all. I use the Isopure ( i think that is the name), got it at Walmart, has 20 grams of Protein per serving and i use milk, so i get about 25 grams right away. then mid morning i have a small bowl of oatmeal and that has some protein in it. If i do eat in the mornings, i have eggs with some cheese. i like to eat tuna, chicken and turkey. I do have steak, but eat only ribeye as it is tender enough and i take tiny bites. I eat protein at every meal. I do have a yogurt in the evening too, has protein in it also. Once you start eating solids, it will be easier to get in the Proteins.< /p>

You won't get it all in for a while. You are still healing so you just need to eat what you are comfortable with and don't overdo it. Start slowly and gradually increase to the levels your doctors recommends. Don't stress over it -just do the best you can.

You can have Protein with just about everything you eat right now, Nofat greek strained yogurt has 23G per 6oz. if you blend this with whey Protein isolite which is another 25-30G per serving, you can get all the protein you need in just a couple of your many meals each day. I would also suggest not knowing all your particulars that 60-70G is very light, especially if you are working out with weights at all. I would encourage you to maybe double that, But check with your nutritionist first.

Keep up the good fight.

You are less than a week out from surgery. At this point just do your best. You are still healing and depending on how tight you feel, you may not hit your goal everyday. For my mushy foods I was only allowed soft Proteins which included yogurt, cottage cheese, refried Beans, tuna, sliced lunch meat, other cheeses. So the Protein was not too hard to get in.

Enjoy!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
