Is the feeling of being full the same

Recommended Posts

I'm newly banded and wanted to know if I'm going to feel the same feeling when full or are there other clues???

It will feel different because you will feel satisfied before you get to full and you will learn how to identify the satisfied feeling so that you will stop eating. Good luck and learn to trust your body's signals. I see many people on here who don't change their habits yet complain how the band doesn't work for them. Pay attention to the signs, follow what your doctor tells you, enjoy the freedom that you will have when you start to take control back from food and rule it instead of letting it rule you...

Satisfied is different from what I used to consider feeling full. I'll be eating and I'll ask myself am I hungry enough to keep eating? Sometiems I say no and stop

I remember noticing right after surgery that my stomach signals come from higher in my stomach. When I'm getting full, I get a little bit of pressure right behind the bottom of my sternum (middle of rib cage). I very rarely get the low gut full feeling. I also burp when I'm full (completely involuntary, although I've learned to stifle it well).

The feeling I get is higher in my stomach, it's totally different than what your use to. I try to stop before I get that feeling, seriously saying that now is weird, it's quite frighting to think of that starting off but it will naturally just change. Good luck with your band!

To me, it kind of is. I mean someone said above and I agree that you get satisfied before you get full - for me, I get the same warm, full tummy kind of pleasure. But you have to learn to recognize it becuase it often comes way way before your eyes and your head are satisfied. And one bite, one tiny bite can tip that over into real pain and discomfort.

This comes with time. It took me literally two years to be able to serve myself a teeny tiny meal and think that it would be enough. Now I've gone too much the other way and really have to remember not to starve my poor teenage sons, who can eat literally four times what I put on their plates. I serve them tiny dinners and then yell at them for getting into the snack foods after dinner.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
