Hey everyone :) I had surgery on 7/6, so I'm about 1.5 months post-op. I've had one fill so far, with a total of maybe 3cc's in my band. I'm just feeling really guilty about how much I've been eating at each meal. I was fine with small meals until after my first fill. If I go out to eat, I put half away in a box first, don't drink with meals.. follow all those rules. But I still feel like I'm eating way too much for having a band with a fill. I eat maybe 1/2 to 1/3 of what I used to, pre-op, but I look at the serving sizes for lapband recipes and the 1/2 cup, 1/4 cup sizes just make me laugh. I'm worried that I've stretched my pouch or something. I'm still having the 2 lb/week loss, and I haven't started exercising regularly yet. Maybe I'm being paranoid about it but I'm just wondering how much others were eating at this time in their journeys. To give a concrete example, I ate an entire medium-sized plate full of salad yesterday at lunch. And for dinner I had about 1.5 enchiladas. (it was really just one, but the tortillas were pretty big.) Gah.. I'm just not sure what to do here. Start eating only 1/4 cup servings? Talk to my surgeon? Idk.

You're losing two pounds a week. You are doing fine. You will find that as your band gets tighter you meals will get smaller.

Hi,

I eat 1100-1200 calories a day. Sometimes I have bigger meals than others, usually for dinner my meal is a bit larger. A 1/2 cup or a 1/4 cup of food is a bit ridiculous unless you are eating 6 times a day. I eat 3 meals with 2 Snacks M-F. Weekends I just eat 3 meals. I focus on the nutrients and calories rather than the volume that I eat. I do make sure not to stuff myself or get overly full.

The important thing is after you eat you want to be satisfied for 4-5 hours. Band or no band, 1/4 cup isnt going to cut it!

My doctor says you should be eating 1-1 1/2 cups of food per meal, 3 times a day. That meal should keep you full for 4-5 hours. I can't personally tell you what I eat because I'm still only in the soft food phase. I would think, though, if you're losing 2 lbs a week you're doing just fine! I say keep it up!

There are days when I'm amazed at how little I can eat and still feel full, and then other days where I'm worried about how much volume it takes to feel even mildly satisfied. I don't get my first fill til Monday, so I'm not exactly in your shoes, but here's what I think: if you are losing 2 pounds a week, you are doing GREAT! This whole band thing is a learnng experience. It sounds to me like you are on track.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
