chicholicious, OMG that would piss me off something fierce. I would remind her that Marilyn Monroe was a size 14!! 14! Size 12 being so fat, my ass. Ugh, i'm mad for you.

GG, YAY!!!!!!!!! I'm at 17lbs, I can't wait to get to 20. Since I had my son almost 7 years ago, the smallest i've been is 219 ONCE. LOL, mostly fluctuated between 220-230 the past few years. I was 258 when I joined WW the first time though, about 6 years ago. That's how I got down to 219, but that was seriously, one time it read that. So the most i've lost, pretty much ever, is about 28lbs, so i'm looking forward to being there. I really want to see what i'll look like 50lbs lighter from where I started.

The stress of school is going to kill me. My blood pressure is up, i've had a few minor anxiety attacks, and have cried more than once because of the stress. I'm 3 weeks from finals right now! ACK! Then my clinical rotation starts (hopefully I GET there!) and I can relax a little bit.

Kelly, Have you told your doc about the heartburn? This can indicate problems with band placement. I too had a hiatal hernia repaired which stopped completely any heartburn I had before. Maybe you have a sensitivity to certain foods ie spicy, vinegar, or sugar. I can't eat mustard- its a guaranteed heartburn for me.

Caryn, Do you try any stress relieving techniques? Deep breathing, yoga, calming tea, primal screaming???? Might help you get thru the next three weeks. What are you studying?

GG-Congrats on the twenty pound mark - did you do the happy dance?? I just made it back to the 184 mark again after the halloween candy. I'm back on track and will go in next week for another fill.

Ms Lady-I'll pray for you to. Remind your mom if she gets sassy that you have lost 32 lbs, and this is just a minor problem. You have chosen to get healthy and she should be supporting you. We are all here for you.

Trevebyn-Are you hounding your doc's office to get this port issue taken care of?? Are you still losing?

Hope everyone has a good week. Healthywoman

Caryn let me just say........BREATHE! I am in nursing school so I can feel your pain. My semester was really sucking hard until I changed my mindset. I decided that I was going to do my best to work my time management. When I go Into a test I know I did what I could with the time I have. I also decided to focus on enjoying each day and you would be amazed how it helps. Just think positive and it will be positive. You might not always be an A student or B student but as long you are a passing student that is all that matters!

Good Morning My August bander Friends, Did you think I had fallen of the edge of the earth? Well no....just been a very busy time for me. My weight was stuck and I was just in a heck of a yucky mood. When I went for a fill in October I had lost 4 pounds but rather than celebrating a personal victory...I was mad. I had to beg for a fill and let me tell you I GOT ONE!! I have felt this one. Who knows how many cc I got. When I ask my doctor pats me ans says that is not important! I guess it is not. I am dropping a few pounds this time..I hope. My scale is never the same as theirs. I go back in about a week for an appt. Not sure I will get a fill or not.

I have experienced a little of the getting stuck this time. The last episode was this morning and it was a piece of bacon. I chewed well and only took small bites, so I am not sure the problem. As on eof my church friends told me....one day you can eat something and the next day you can't. Breads are a no no anytime for me. I foamed this morning until I felt like a mad dog. Finally I think it has come up and I can get on with my day. I will take it easy the rest of the day.

I am excerising at least three times a week at the gym while my three year old is at school. i do a couple miles walking the track and an hour of Water aerobics. i am thinking of uping at least one more day. I want the wonderland before Christmas and I am gonna bust my butt to get there.

have a blessed day and if the sun is shining in your area get out and enjoy it. Water is my one and only drink of choice (protein shakes don't count). Praying all have a great day and your pounds go flying off!

Foamed like a mad dog!! Love it. Y'all make me smile. I'm getting my fill tomorrow!! Looking forward to losing again. It's been six weeks. So I started at a 24 and I can wear 18 all day but a bit tight. I've lost 30. But 50 since January. I feel better. My feet feel better. But I'm still not happy w pictures of myself. I wanna lose 50 more. To 180. 12 is no way fat!! I'd be happy with 14. Lol

I am starving......like someone hook me up with some paint chips starving. I am so thankful I get a fill tomorrow but the willpower to prevent a 5 pound gain between now and then is close to breaking. Of course I am at work with only candy and vending machine food as options. Why did I eat a grilled chicken salad for lunch? The fat girl that lives in my head is telling me to eat a burger what could it hurt? The skinny size 12 angel is saying "your hips"! I will not falter I will be strong! Lol

SO frustrated. I tried to eat a bean and cheese Breakfast taco this morning and couldn't finish it because I got stuck. I proceeded to chomp down 4 papa enzymes and nothing helped...I thought they were the cure all until this morning. Sometimes I just forget to chew 45 times before I swallow, lol.

Needless to say papa enzymes are not the cure all when you get stuck.

Hi Kelly,

It's papaya enzymes and they are supposed to help if you get a "stuck" episode. I think they must help with digestion quicker than normal. A lot of banders say they really work. I got mine at Walmart and they are chewable tablets and we can chew at least 4, 6 if we need them. The ones I got taste like a sweet tart and are actually good.

You're right. We are all still in the early stages of our lap band journey so try not to get discouraged when that scale doesn't move. Different Dr's tell us to do different things so I'd just stick with the program your Dr has you on as far as snacking.

Blessings,

GG

Hi everyone - I've been at a plateau for over a month. I got a fill 2 weeks ago, which has finally seemed to give me a feeling like there might be a band in there. I am getting my 3rd fill tomorrow. Here's hoping!

Oh glad to hear someone else plateau. Sorry for you though. I just got my second fill. Now at 3.5. doc says I may feel something after my next fill. He saud are bodies are "morphing" for the first twelve weeks. We should start seeing a difference at twelve weeks. He said try a kettle bell to change up my workout. Wondering why I am on fluids today since I won't "feel" anything for another month. Lol. It's progress in the process. : )

So good to hear from some of you that have not posted in a while. Everyone keep the good comments coming and if that Dr is correct we are all almost to 12 weeks. Maybe then these bands will do their jobs and we will all start to see significant weight loss. Let everyone know how your fills go and any tips you can pass along. We're all in the same boat.

I got stuck last night again. Didn't chew enough and ate too fast. Seems like i would learn but I forget when I get in a hurry. I ended up with a PB. The Papaya enzymes did nothing!

II had breast cancer in 1989 at age 39 and yesterday I went for my yearly cancer check up. I'm now 22 years cancer free! Yeaaaah. It's always good to get that over with every year. Praise God.

Hang in there everybody. If we stay on the program, drink our Water and exercise we cannot stay on a plateau forever!

We can do this!

Blessings,

GG

My doctor also suggested a work out change. He told me to try Kettle Worx. Has anyone tried it?

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
