Hey August bandsters ! My name is Marni. I get banded tomorrow (August 17th) ! I am 19 yrs old. My starting weight is 272. I'm so relieved that I dont have to feel trapped in this weight anymore! Anyone going away to college with the lap band?

Soooo how many of you are still sore? I'm not sore at all anymore....it stopped around 6 days.....and my incisions are really good. Like there isnt any bruising or red, its just small clean incisions starting to heal. I'm kind of surprised...

Well my surgery was yesterday. So far so good. My tummy area is very sore, like I did a thousand sit ups yesterday. Took some pain meds this morning, feels a little better.

I haven't had any gas pains YET !!

Hi Everyone,

I'm feeling better today, 2nd day post-op. Took the allowed pain meds last night and slept much better. Walked around a bit before going to bed and was able to relieve some of the gas...thank God cause it was starting to get on my nerves. I will be moving around more today to help it along some more. I really think I wan't moving enough yesterday. Shoulder pain is good today so far.

Caryn I totally know what you mean about a small animal trying to crawl it's way out of your tummy. I feel the same way.

Ms.Lady I really hope your doing better. Maybe your Dr has something better then Gas-x to help with the issue.

Maybe a gross question, but how long after surgery were you able to go #2?? I don't normally suffer from Constipation, and I'm only 2 days post-op so not worrying yet, but just wondering about anyone else.

Erinn

Hi S2B!

Glad your surgery went well yesterday. Mine went good too. I did have a lot of gas pains in my chest and back. Today, everything is sore. I am especially sore where they put the port. They said I can take a shower today but I am afraid for anything to touch it. I got on the scale and it looks like I am down almost 10 pounds. My pre-op diet started on Saturday so thats not bad. I think you are safe about the gas pains. You would have had them by now. Maybe your doctor didnt need to use as much. Take care of yourself.

Hey Erin...........thanks so much for your concern sweetie . And to answer your question in regards to the BMs, I have had them since the day following surgery.

I am feeling 93% better today, gas pain is minimal now (LAWD have mercy that was an experience). My only complaint is the lack of energy, I mean its ridiculous, is it just me?

7 days post op 10lbs down! Im still having a hard time getting motivated tho. I feel pretty ok except for the stupid gas that goes up and stops in my throat I JUST WANNA BURRP!! I know I need to get up and about tho. Laying in bed I got hooked watching the 2 seasons of Glee. Bad idea! but its easy for me I have no kids, Im off of work another week, and my roomates outta town. Ive only been outta the house twice in the last week, the first time was 5 days post op I went to wal-mart and almost fainted.. I do live in Texas tho and it was 111 out so my motivation to leave the house is not exactly great at this point!

Im the same way. No more pain and the incisions look great as well. Im almost 2 weeks post op and amazed how I feel. Its almost as if I never had surgery. The only time I feel anything is if Im holding my 27lb 2yr old (which Im not supposed to do) then I can feel a little tinge and pressure type pain whe hes on my port. Don't have my fist fill till Sept. 14th.

Hi Caryn and all :)

I felt that a few times because I thought I had to burp but it kept going up....

I saw your tummy pics and they look painful :( I was just banded yesterday but would like to take pics to see what my scars look like...how long did you keep your bandages on?

Good luck Tanisha and hello Erinn!

Anyone post op get this heartburn-y, spasm, weird and painful feeling that starts in the stomach, makes it's way up like a burp but instead stops mid-neck and like, feels like it expands and hurts for a second and then go away? That was my best scientific explanation of what it is! I'm tired of it, it's all damn day every day! And it hurts!

Flammingjun, my steri strips are mostly still on. I took the one off the tiny incision because it wasn't stuck to it. I took half of the ones off the big incision because it felt very painful and I wanted to look at it to see if it was infected looking. The rest are still stuck like glue. We're supposed to leave them on until they fall off and I learned with my c-section not to push them to come off or it messes up the incision.

Thanks! Where is your port?? I thought it was going to be on the right but right now my left rib area is killing me! I can get up for awhile and do some things and then I have to lay down and stretch out so there's zero pressure on it!

My port is also on my left side. I'll be happy when I can slept on my left side again!

Move move move ladies!!! I went back to work 2 days after surgury.(granted for just 4 hours) I walked 3 miles the day of surgury afterward. 5 days post op was Monday and I was back to work a full schedule. Tomorrow its back to spin class at 5:45 am then work. Moving is going to releive 99% of that "take your breath away shoulder pain". Now I am not saying that I am not exhausted ... But that's from lack of calories / sugar. And that gets better every day. You are not going to hurt yourself. Move slowly. Do not lift weights but definatly move! Plus it's just going to help the fantastic results that everyone is seeing!

I used to dread exercise because it seemed no matter how much I did I did not see great results. Having the band as a tool I know now I am going to see results and I know if I put in that hour/ hour and 1/2 a day is just going to help me see those results even faster!

I feel hopeful for the first time in years!! So so so excited about this journey.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
