Hi. I have a meeting with a lap band surgeon on Valentines Day 2006. I am hoping to get my insurance to make an exception and pay for my lap band. They do pay for gastric bypass but I don't want that and can't have it because I have ulcerative colitis. Anyone else have UC?

Hi Peggy, welcome to LBT! Is UC short for United Healthcare? If so, they are my carrier and they approved my band. It wil all depend on your policy, but they are one of the better carriers for band approval. Good luck with your consultation!

My insurance covered bypass, too - and would not approve AGB. I fought and won. I would be happy to send you my appeal letters, if you think they might be of help.
