Any Southern NJ Bandsters Out There??????

Recommended Posts

Congratulations to you both B-52 and Mau134!!! One of you is in the maintenance mode and the other is starting the lap banded weight loss journey. It's wonderful seeing the different stages of the journey being played out in one place. Mau134, I'm glad things went well. Sorry to hear about the discomfort still, but it sounds like you're working through it. Are you using the Gas-x strips or did your surgeon recommend something else? Wow, B-52, I know you are proud of yourself and so are we. I you had to attribute your success to one or 2 thing, what would they be?

Sorry for not getting back sooner.

I'll be honest, the first few months were hell. I stink at counting calories/dieting. It was only after my 3rd fill did I have any permanent restriction. It was then I had to learn to listen to the band, change MY ways and not try to fight the band.

If the band won't let me eat, or eat what I want, then I don't. Thre are other things also.

Plus I go to the gym as much as possible to burn off more calories than take in.

I was banded march 9th too and im in Monmouth county..where did you have your surgery?

Who do you see? I go to Centre State in Freehold, but my insurance has changed and I now pay out of pocket. But if I should need surgery that would be too large a cost.

South Jersey girl here. Anybody still following this topic?

I am 6 months post surgery and just had my 4th fill 2 days ago. In reading the topics I am seeing that many patients are getting 2mm fills? My doc is only doing 1mm at a time.....which equals slow go. I am very discouraged with my progress and the effectiveness of the band. :( I am only just now feeling any difference before my surgery. The difference is that it hurts if I eat too fast or do not chew my food thoroughly. The food usually comes back up. So maybe now I can commence with some weight loss?

I understand that only I am responsible for my food choices and Portion Control but if I was successful at those tasks I would not have needed the band in the first place.

I am a discouraged but after my fill I am a little bit hopeful. Any tips for success?

Hey Everyone, I'm in Whiting. I was banded in April 2011. Coming up on my 1 year anniversary! I'm down 78 pounds. Yeah! But, I am currently having some issues. It'll blow over. I was banded by Dr. Reich at SOCH in Manahawkin.

I saw in an earlier post that someone said they have to stop fighting the band. I am at that point. I have been fighting it and it has been a bit depressing. How do you get your mind to stop fighting it? That seems to be the hardest part about this.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
