Back Pains that come with the band?

Recommended Posts

Ok First let me say that I have been SO bad, because I have told none of this to my surgeon for fear he will want to take out ALL my Fluid. So I have just been dealing with all of it.....

I have pain in my back and shoulder blades after I eat even just a small amount. Its so odd. It started when I was pregnant, and has not really stopped. Much of the time the only way to get this pain to stop is by throwing up or eating ice cream... I dunno what it is about the ice cream, but maybe a combo of the super cold, thick, creamy... I dont know. Milk, Yougert, Sherbert do not work the same.

Anyway, the Ice Cream thing is completely COUNTER PRODUCTIVE to weight loss. I still have a lot to go since I gained 80lbs while preggers... Im down to about 20 lbs above my pre pregnancy...

Any one have these symptoms? What causes it? Am I going to have to suck it up and tell my surgeon that I have foolishly been hiding this from him for about a year? Obviously the pain isnt THAT bad, and its NOT all the time... mostly mornings and early afternoon IF I try to eat... band too tight? slipage?

I also have a lot of pain in my shoulder blade after I eat. My doctor thought that it was my gallbladder so they removed it. But I still have the pain. Sometimes I have to hold my arm they are so bad. I am glad to see that I am not crazy because some people think that I am when I talk about it.

I had the worst shoulder blade pains for a few years. It took me pleading for an ultrasound of my gallbladder to finally be correctly diagnosed. No ulcers, no cardiac issues.I had multiple gall stones! My gallbladder needed to come out. No pain since GB came out two years ago! Sometimes it's the last thing the docs think of with us women when it should be one of the first.

I have terrible pain when my food gets stuck. It's right in the upper center of my back around the bra band area and just above it too. It feels like a professional football player hurled a football right into my back. It burns and aches so bad and it's hard to even sit or stand. I've been banded 4 years and have lost 82 lbs. It helps to sit on the floor bent over forward until my forehead touches the floor. Then I lay on a heating pad. Some days I'm still tight, after all these years. Other days I'm not. I just live with it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
