For all those of us getting banded in July our time is NOW..... We have all traveled different journeys to get to the land of the band. I know that I am having very mixed emotions . I am soo excited, but nervous. What if this is just another thing I try to lose weight and it does not work? What if I mess up? What if I cant eat anything and can only drink?

I start my liquid diet on July 4th, but have already been cutting back and making some of the changes needed in the future. I am now off diet coke, coffee, and sweet tea. I no longer drink through a straw, and have started trying to not drink while I eat.

I look forward to hearing everyones story about their July experience.

I was banded Yesterday ( June 30th )

I had a one day pre op liquid diet. For it only being one day it was hard! I think it was because my mom made my son this Pasta bake stuff ( that of course i LOVE! ) LOL, So far my pain has been under control, but i've been taking the pain meds even if i don't totally need them. I would rather be ahead of it, than behind it!

I myself was having mixed emotions. Last night i cried thinking i made the biggest mistake, I honestly love food. Its my weakness. I used to be able to eat whatever i wanted up until i had my son 16 months ago. I gained 75 pounds in that time. I was worried about having to give up the food i love, After talking with a few fellow bandsters they made me feel alot better, So when your feeling down about it log onto lap band chat and talk to the people. It will take about a month before you can really "eat" solid food. How i see it is the first month is going to be the hardest. After that, its all on you. Just eat slow and eat only a small amount. If it doesn't work out, then just don't get a fill.

I hope this helps! Best of luck

Yes, finally !! I started this process back in February thinking that I would be done with insurance and testing by May. Well, by April I knew that May was not possible and it would most likely be July. And, ta-da ... July is finally here. Of course, I am closer to the end of the month (7/21) but I'm happy to rip June off the calendar. I'm scared too. Ill be one day behind you on the pre-op diet ... we can do this !

I have 49 hours and 30 mins until I am due to leave my house for the hospital. Today is my last day of food for at least two weeks.

I've been considering WLS for 6 years now and seriously since January. As I've posted before, this is just as much emotional as it is physical. I love food too so this is hard for me but I love myself and my family more. The past 5 weeks of dieting has changed my attitude towards food and I see it more as a tool rather than a friend. I don't enjoy feeling stuffed anymore. I think I'm ready and I'm scared that I will fail. Where do I go if I screw up the band?

You echo many of my same thoughts (emotional tie to food, afraid of failure, etc). I am hopeful that I can turn my fear into determination (oh, but I am scared). We can do this together !

What if it works for you ! That's what you should be thinking about. Are you ready to start a new life?

That's what they asked me in the hospital. As soon as they got me in the Hallway, before they started to move me

they asked me that, and I said YES ! The thought of that was FANTASTIC.

What you don't see allot of on this site, are the people that have gone on and hit their goal, or are comfortable where they ended up at,

and they don't come back for help on this site because it's not needed anymore.

Everyone that I was banded with on 10/31/06 is gone ! They don't come back any, more.

That is the flip side of the coin, the one you never hear about.

So Good Health To You with your Surgery, and afterlife, Shirley.

I think it's safe to say we're all kind of scared - but we're doing this! We're taking that first step into the rest of our lives! We all love food, and that's a good thing to love food. We have all come to realize though that this tool will help us to enjoy food in a healthier and better way!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
