PMS + Pre Op = STARVING

Recommended Posts

Ladies and suggestions??? I get so hungry when I am PMSing. blink.gif Today I tried to stay busy, but I sit at work and that is when it really kicks in! Is there any suggestions on how to get past this, during the pre op and the post op ? Any suggestions will be helpful.

Honestly, I have the same problem. I'm on day 12 of my 2 week pre op diet and today I ATE pizza. I'm freaking out now, because I've done so well *14 lbs down* ...don't fall off the band wagon like I did, you will feel SO guilty! The other 13 days I would just drink an extra Protein shake, or have carrots or some fresh fruit

Pre op diet:

1 shake for Breakfast

4 oz of chicken or turkey + 1 cup carrots + small dinner salad for lunch

1 shake for dinner

AND A LOT OF Water

Don't feel bad I'm doing horrible on my Protein Shake diet too! At night I lay in bed debating whether or not to sneak into the kitchen and raid the refrigerator. Ugh, I have a serious food addiction!!!

I'm afraid to cheat. I have been told that if my liver has not shrunk, the surgeon will open you up only to close you back up and not do the surgery. I have too much invested for that to happen to me. I think you all need to really think about the seriousness of this. I'm going into day 3 and so far, so good. But I am allowed to have yogurt, Jello, applesauce, fish, chicken, some vegetables and salad along with 2 Protein Shakes daily, oh an oatmeal. It's kind of a weird diet, but it's definitely doable.rolleyes.gif

Thanks Kay. I really need some stern support !! I am not allowed any food at all. Just shakes. You are very fortunate to have such a doable diet, I wish you the best and hope we can support each other! rolleyes.gif

2 weeks of THIS: 4 Protein Drinks, 3 cps skim milk or light yogurt, 3 Fiber supplements (mixed in water) 1 cup raw veggies! THAT's IT! and TONS of Water! I am going to do it- but WHEW! Wish me luck! Surgery is July 29, start this July 15. And my monthly will be on for the last week and day of SURGERY!!! I Sooooooo wanted to avoid this! but i will work through it.

You can do this!! I had PMS during my pre-surgery diet of shakes, broth and Jello only. Ugh, I was grouchy and was craving food non-stop. Like Karen, I just told myself that my liver needed to shrink and this was like taking medicine. What made me frustrated is that every surgeon seems to have a different pre-op diet. Different lengths, different foods, different restrictions. At the end of the pre-op diet I was craving lettuce! Of course, I had to do the same diet after surgery as before. But that seemed easier for some reason.

Hang in there and good luck with surgery!

My cheating today was a piece of light string cheese....I just needed to chew on something, I am PMSing so bad. I really don't think it's a big deal though, it's like 10 calories and no carbs.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
