Weight Watchers

Recommended Posts

I am needing to show that i was on weight watchers. I no longer have my book that they give you to track your weight. I called Weight Watchers and they faxed me a receipt of what months i paid to be on the program. Do you know if that will work as proof.

Hi AmyRose--that depends on your insurance requirements. I have Cigna Open Access Plus and they required to show copies of the book. It not so much that I paid I was proving, rather, they needed to document weight history for 6 consecutive months. Only the booklet gives you this. I recommend you search for the Bariatric Surgery Policy your insurance publishes as this will spell it all out for you.

Good luck

hi amy, i was just approved yesterday (!!!!!!!) ,i have blue cross and they accepted my year on ww as proof. I did have to call ww 3 times to get them to fax the info to my dr, so you may have to keep on them. Do keep track of the date and person you talked too, it was helpful info when i had to call a 2nd and 3rd time. nice people at ww, more than willing to help, i just think the ball got dropped a couple of times. Best of luck !

My insurance would not accept Weight Watchers or anything similar.

They insisted it be a "Medically Supervised" program by a MD.

Weekly weigh ins, and progress notes must be provided by the weight Loss Dr.

At first, my PCP said to use someone like weight watchers, bring him the the file and he will sign off on it.

My Surgeon said NO! Won't work.

My insurance said the same thing. It is clearly written out in their requirements that it has to be a physician monitored weight loss program and lists Weight Watchers and a few others as NOT meeting the requirements.

My insurance acepted tha fact that I had done WW as fulfilling the requirement for stating the effort that you had put towards losing weight in the past calendar year. But they also required that I attend monthly nutritional and dieting sessions for three months.

I have BCBS federal standard.

Lots of good wishes to you in your journey to good health,

Melinda

I am on WW and have Fed BCBS Basic. What type of WW documentation did you have to provide (receipts, progress charts, etc)?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
