None of us should have to defend ourselves in the decisions we make with our bands. I know people sometimes have a hard time grasping onto the idea that some people (like me) need this tool to help me with quantity eating. If friends and family have negative words, it is not worth ther presence as you take this step to better health:)

I lost a friend of 17 years about 4 months after having surgery. I bring it down to jealousy, unfortunately. The friend was so ugly about it. I miss our friendship but nut the ugliness

My childhood best friend told me not to get the surgery, and that it was the easy way out. However, a couple of weeks after surgery she texted to check up on me. I was surprised she came around. So, don't give up hope.

However, always remember NO ONE knows what it is like to live in your body. They are in no position to judge you. This is for the better of your health. Keep your chin up.

If diets worked for us then none of us would have gotten big enough to need the surgery. You do what's right for u. I am almost 8 months out 100 pounds down and if I had to have it out tomorrow I wouldn't have one shred of regret! Just follow the rules and enjoy the change it is amazing :)

I saw this Nike quote somewhere........." While it may suck that i cant eat some of my favorite foods all of the time, it sucks even more to live in a body that i hate ." Ohhhhhh, how true! your friend may be stuck in a body she hates and may be jealous of the fact that you may be competion, etc..... you have to do whats right for your health and body, not theirs. in 6 months ive gone from 225 to 188, a size 18 frumpy, am happier and heathier, look and feel 100 better, and its been oh so worth it ( and the size 14 skinny jeans yesterday didnt hurt either ! )so you just do whats best for you and maybe she'll come around when she sees your progress ! If not, its her problem , not yours. good luck !

I am glad that only my husband and this forum know about my band. My husband likes the weight loss, my new figure and is never critical of my decision or me. This forum, supports me even more...thanks all of you. Even better, I like the new me! My kids and family just think I am losing weight by dieting and I prefer it that way. This journey is tough enough, without the criticism and jeolousy that weight loss/changes can bring out in some people. I'm not sure what you can do about non-supportive people, especially after the deed is done. I would just refuse to discuss that topic and if they did not respect that, then I guess I wouldn't be talking to them at all. Sorry, no better advice.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
