Any July 2011 Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, so for some reason lapbandtalk.com decided to not let me log in any more with my password, no matter how many times I changed it. So I finally just created a new profile today. So if you had me on your friends list before as Tracy_N please add this one now :)

Well 2 days post op and feel pretty good. Got in my Protein Shake today...although I hated it. I am working on the Water, hard to drink that much when you arent that hungry. Still sore at my port incision and where I believe the band is but nothing I cant handle. Only took pain meds once today :D And even with the bloating from the gas and surgery, still down 10lbs from when I started the pre-op diet Woot! Good luck everyone, I will also post this on the post op July Bandsters thread :)

doing great with the band today...my stomach tells me when to stop (i couldn't finish all of my Tomato soup) and walked outside for a bit plus watered the plants and did some light stuff around the house...was able to carry and nurse my 11 month old...gas pain is still driving me crazy, but incisions are only midly paining now, much better.

am very excited for this journey! so far so good...

You so got this! Don't beat yourself up...the lifestyle changes we have already made are more than most people can handle, let alone adding the pre-op diet restrictions. Keep your head up...stay as focused as you can. Safe travels and best of luck on Tuesday. Look forward to hearing your stories on the post-band side! :)

Thank you for your kind words. It's just much harder than I expected it to be. I weighed in today and was NOT happy with the measly 300g loss since Wednesday... But all it's really done is reminded me why I'm getting banded! I work SO hard to lose weight and never see results... I cannot WAIT to have my body back on side!

Shauna,

I start the pre-op diet too on the 5th. I am glad to know that there are others that will be going through this at the same time as I am. Just wanted to say thank you for starting this post. Knowing there are others rooting for you is such a help. Good luck to those having surgery this next week and to those starting the pre-op diet.

I swear it gets better after day six...I know, big help. I am craving nothing, can see my kids and husband eat a big Breakfast at the hotel's buffet and calmly sip on my shake. I'm not hungry and can think of things other than food (normally food consumes my thoughts). It really much better after day six (day nine today). Surgery in three days...yay!

Thanks Lorelei, that makes me hopeful, I'm on Day 4, got my TOM today, and am ready to grab my husband's lunch and lock myself in the bathroom with it, lol!

Hi Everyone,

I was banded on friday, July 1st and was home the next day by 1:00. The pain was pretty bad the first day but has gotten a lot better since then. As for the gas pains... walk, walk, walk, it really does help. I am now on the liquid diet and feel pretty good. I'm actually not hungry.... FINALLY! LOL

To all you other July banders good luck. Here's to our "New Beginning".

:)

Shauna

I had not been on in a week or so. Work has kept me really busy. Congrats on getting your surgery date. How long did it take for the insurance company to send the approval back?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
