Documentation of Weight Watchers

Recommended Posts

I met with my surgeon this morning and received a checklist of things to complete before I can get approved for surgery. It is daunting ;( One of the things I need to do is obtain documentation regarding my past efforts at losing weight. Does anyone know how I can get that from Weight Watchers? I've done WW on and off (mostly off) since about 1995. I wonder if I call them if they can look me up by name or something. The most recent try was six months ago via online, and I have credit card statements for that, but don't know how to prove how many times I've tried it.

Thanks for any help!

Lisa

Hi there,

I called the 800 number listed on the WW website (sorry don't have it right now or I'd give it to you) and asked if it was possible to get a record of my participation. They are going to fax me a receipt for the program going back to 2007. Just give them a call. Good luck!

Hello Ladies, I also had to have documentation of proven diet attempts- 3 within the last 12 months. I used my primary care physician. Since we had discussed weightloss surgery a few years ago, she was glad to help in any way she would.

She had been documenting on my bi annual visits that I was trying to loose weight. However for insurance purposes (per my WLS dr's checklist) they have to document what type of diet, what type of exercise and frequency of exercise & of course documented weight.

She actually went back and did an addendum for 1 visit last year- only because we never documented my type of exercise, frequency or diet. So we just documented low fat diet and my walking 2- 3 x week for 30 mins to 1 hr. And I got approved when submitted to insurance.

Hope this helps.

Some weight watcher groups are online with their headquarters and some aren't. If they aren't when you check in they write it on a card. I know our weights are on those cards at the location. If they need the weights, the location might have it.

I was told WW does not count for the 6 month diet. You CAN include it as an attempt without the documentation They will typically want a medical documentation of previous weights from one of your regular dr's. If you're talking about the actual 6 month diet - WW will not count. I was even told my regular Dr wasn't able to document these. My insurance wanted a bariatric specialist commenting on the diet, weight, etc. This is what I personally incurred though....

When I called my insurance for the exact rules, they told me that weight watchers did count as a medically supervised diet.

When I spoke to the insurance specialist for my surgeon, she told me that most insurance companies will not accept the online weight watchers programs -- you have to weigh in and go to meetings in person for it to count.

Hope that helps. It's so hard because every insurance is different...

My insurance required that for 6 months my weight be documented. My surgeon had me come in once a month and documented it. So maybe check with your surgeon's office and they will do it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
