can you get approved sooner with Aetna?

Recommended Posts

I have been reading on here about people who only did 3months of doctor supervised weight loss plan and got approved through Aetna. I thought it was 6months but I did see on my paperwork from my surgeon that it said 3-6 month supervised weight loss plan. Is it true that I might only have to do 3 months??? I honestly don't want to wait 6months but will if I have to. Oh please, oh please let it be true!!!!

I was approved thru AETNA and only had to do 3 months of supervised visits and was then approved in less than 5 days after submission.

I'm not sure about Aetna - I have BCBS, BUT I have it through Minnesota (instead of Illinois, where I live) and MN required a 6 month diet, but Illinois BCBS only required 3. So it is true that they may require 3 months, but it depends on the individual policy. This can vary by state, region, and possibly employer programs. I was wanting the 3 month only as well...but can honestly say the 6 month gave me a great time to start adapting and changing my lifestyle before the band.

Good luck!

I have Aetna and did the 3 month plan but it still took about 6 months. I started in January 2010 completed all the requirements - pysch visit, sleep study, Nutritionist visits monthly x3, doctor visits monthly x4. Paperwork was submitted in Mid May and approved soon after. surgery done on June 10, 2010.

pretty sure that if you don't want to risk being denied, that it must be 6 months.

I also have Aetna I started in Nov or Dec with my first Intake did 3 Nutrionist visits Pshyc. consult over the phone sleep test and endoscopy I think in Jan. ended up finding out had some weird Heliobact something or other in my stomache and did a month of antibiotics and then paper work sent in in March and approval in march within days and tomorrow will be banded. So I guess it depends on your plan to get approval.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
