2 Week Post Op Dr. Appt

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow is my two week post op doctor's appt. Can anyone give me insight on what to expect? Is it simply looking at my incisions? What have you all experienced?

To be honest I expected more from my 2 week appointment, I mean I had to drive 4 hours one way to get to it. I went in and got weighed and vitals done and put into the room to wait. The doctor came in and asked me how I was feeling, I said fine just hungry, lol. Asked me about my diet thus far. Told me that we could move up mushies a week if I wanted. He didn't examine me in any way, didn't ask me how my incisions were healing, nothing. Then I left, it was as simple as that. I am sure if there were any issues they would have been brought up there but there just wasn't so it was short and sweet.

Mine was a little more involved...in addition to weight, measurement and diet my surgeon did check my incisions and removed the steri strips that had not come off on their own.

My post op exam was just a weight and seeing how I was doing. The PA I saw did not even look at my incisions. I was kind of perplexed by that. I mean I knew what to look out for being in a medical field, but for all they know they could have been necrotic. I have yet to have a fill yet, so 3 months later and they still have not seen them

Just had my appt. Little disappointed. I don't know what I was expecting though. The nurse weighed me, doctor looked at my incision's, and scheduled me for my first fill in about 4 weeks. I guess I wanted a "talk". You know...."how are you doing?" "Whats troubled you the most" "What can I help you with?" Maybe I need a psychiatrist for that lol. But, then again, I have all of YOU to help me with that!!!! lol

Just had mine today. The PA weighed me, asked how I was doing on the liquid diet, checked my incisions, explained to me the next phase of the diet (soft foods for two weeks), and answered my questions. I also scheduled my first fill for 4 weeks from today. Pretty much what I expected.

I guess mine was a little more intensive! In addition to weigh-in, checking incisions, vitals, we had a 2 hour post op seminar with a nutritionist on eating for the next few weeks of healing and how to eat after healing. They talked more about fills and how often we should be coming in to get them.

This is in addition to the pre-op seminar that we had about what to expect, because your mind isn't as focused on what to eat after, as it is on the actual surgery.

I hope it's more than a quick in and out, especially if you are paying for a visit!

Mine was a little more involved...in addition to weight, measurement and diet my surgeon did check my incisions and removed the steri strips that had not come off on their own.

That's what happened at my post op appt. She also went over the step down diet and reminded me to drink 64 ounces of Water. Told me to take Vitamins and a medication for my gall bladder. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. So happy to be onto full liquids today! And I do have some restriction already...woo who!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
