GETTING DISCOURAGED

Recommended Posts

I am getting discouraged while looking at other posts.

I read so much about slippage and rebanding.

I have a $15000 cap on my insurance for weight loss surgery.

What will happen if I do have slippage or need another surgery? I will be stuck

with the cost or with not getting it fixed.

I am also having a tough time with my hunger pains. Well maybe not hunger pains...more like "I want to eat the bad stuff!!!"

I have 7 days left. Keeping my eyes on the big prize.

My kids wanted a pizza the other night. I tried my hardest to stay away. I drank my shake instead.

Then while cleaning up the smell got the best of me. I took a bite. Chewed...and spit it out.

LOL. I laugh because I was able to enjoy the taste.

I need a shock collar. Shock myself everytime I even think about stepping off the path.

I have had so many shakes and chicken patties I want to cry.

LOL. Or laugh deliriously. LOL.

Remember that you'll see a lot more posts complaining of problems with the band than you will successes with it. This is a support forum so you will find more people with problems seeking answers. As for slippage/rebanding, if you treat your band well, you're usually fine, especially if you work with a well qualified surgeon. Follow the rules, don't keep your band too tight, and you'll be fine.

As for the pre-op; good luck and congrats thus far. It IS hard but you can do it! Eye on the prize.

Shock Collar? I would buy one. I lost my hunger after surgery and I am 20 months out and it is only head hunger that I am dealing with now but I will get a handle on that soon.. You can't worry about all the “what ifs”. It will drive you crazy. I was self pay and if something happens to my band I would just have to figure something out but it would work out.

Thank you for the advice.

I do know a few people that have had success and a few that have not.

I want to be the success story.

I have kids to live for.

Even if they drive me crazy all of the time.

During my liquid diet I messed up big time and ate a big mac. Right after that I got right back on the train and rode it out to the end! I'm sure a lot of people slip up, it's normal but so worth it in the end.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
