Going Back to Work on Thurday-Day 6 Post OP

Recommended Posts

So I am on Day 6 post op and will return to work on this Thursday. I am a little nervous about what I should take to make it through this second week on liquids. My first week was Clear Liquids and starting today I can progress to full liquids. That is to include my Protein Shakes, strained pureed foods, Soups, etc.

I need suggestions on how others have gotten through this. Interestingly, I am not suppose to lift more than 10 lbs and am also struggling with how I am going to carry my purse, laptop case and lunch without exceeding that amount. Funny huh?!

I just need help!

Hi. Depending on your work environement it may be easiest to bring campbells drinkable Tomato Soup (since it's one serviing. Some of the other brands that have heat and eat Soups put Two servings in the container.). Also for Protein Shakes you can buy shaker cups (have a small wisk ball inside) that you can used to mix up the shakes. Or buy ready to drink which would be the easiest. I like Premier brand from costco 160 cal. 30 g Protein. Other thoughts are sugar free Jello, individual applesauce containers if you can have it.

Oh and do you have one of those small roller overnight bags that you can take as carry on luggage? That would be perfect for your laptop, since they have built in elastic things for holding your clothes in place. You could also put your purse in there. Also you could put your lunch stuff in a sealable baggie and put it in there are well.

This is what I did 5yrs. ago ... First invest in a good Protein Shake Muscle Milk is very good.

I took a shaker bottle, and a ziploc baggie, with a couple of scoops of Muscle Milk in it.

lunch Time I filled my jug with Water added the MM, and shook it up, then slowly enjoyed my lunch.

People I worked with were all for me. "didn't need or want it, but they were fascinated with it, so good for them !"

So tomorrows the day! Back to work! Took all the valuable advice.

Check:

Roller laptop bag with compartments

Ziploc bags for my Protein Powder (Unjury)

insulated bag by Rachael Ray (for Isopure bottles and water) costco

I am going to attach insulated lunch bag to Samsonite rolling laptop bag! Voila! No lifting required...

I'm all ready!!!! Well, at least as far as my nutrition and lifting requirement is concerned!

Thanks so much for all of the help!! I love the community of fellow bandsters! I couldn't do this alone.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
