Aetna NAP success with the 3 month plan

Recommended Posts

hi im leslie, im pretty new to the concept of the lap band so forgive me if i ever ask a question that seems silly :) Im on Aetna NAP and during my meeting with my doctors insurance assistants, she mentioned that i could do the 3 month medically monitored diet as opposed to the 6 month version. Has any one had a hard time getting approved with the 3 month plan? i dont want to do anything wrong, so any advice would be great!

Yes I have heard also that you can do a 3 month multidisciplinary diet.I had no problems with Aetna approval process.See my signature line. The case manage assigned to me was very helpful. She called to check on me preoperatively and postoperatively.I wish you the best with getting things approved.

No problems here either. Just be prepared it still can possibly take almost 6 months to complete the process.

just curious your bmi.... I have a bmi of 35 - no other problems (ie- sleep apnea or diabites or high blood pressure) and i was denied...i havne't done the 3 months yet, but they are going to resubmit after the 3 month diet program. I was just curiuos if you also had a lower than the required 40 bmi.

I honestly can't remember what my bmi was when the submitted the info. I do know for sure that it was over 40. They also required the bmi to be over 40 for over 3 years or something like that (doc records). One of the years I did dip down below the requirement. I don't have any co-morbidties. Don't give up!

Hi Leslie my name is Trina, and I have Aetna also, I'm so glad to know some one with Aetna. I've had the hardest time with this place TLC edge my claim hasnt even been subitted yet. I had to start my doctor and my nutrient visits all over again this has been an process since last November. So I started over because TLC stated my doctor visits had to be aligned with my nutrient visits. This place has been a roller coaster, I would like very much for you to share with me your process or the surgey center that you are using. Please I need feed back.

I have Aetna and haven't had any trouble at all. Matter of fact they were great. But my BMI was well over the 40 (and has been for 15+ years) and I had several comorbidities, which have cost them a bit of money recently :P

Good luck to you!! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
