working nights is playing havoc on my eating...

Recommended Posts

So I started working nights now and boy is it playing havoc on my eating habits...

I seem to be tighter at night so eating isnt very comfertable and when I get off in the morning there is no way I would be able to eat my band is practically shut in the early am...

Anyone have some advise for me. I have started taking mushy types of food like tuna salad and a Protein Drink to work but I get so hungry....

But it wont matter what I bring cuz I really cant eat it anyway

I am thinking you may simply be too tight. From what your saying, your hungry but not able to eat much. I would call your doc. and make an appointment. Say what's going on and see what he/she thinks. You may need a slight unfill. I have hesitated to do that and suffered needlessly. When I finally broke down and went in for an unfill I still had restriction. Best wishes!

I agree with vlp. Your band should be looser the longer you are awake and eating. If it is too tight to eat at the end of your day (morning or not) then you are probably too tight. I found it took a few weeks of night shift for my body to catch on to my new schedule, but it was very hard. I worked 13 hour night shifts and gained a ton of weight! I think it was the fact that my hospital didn't have a cafeteria but did have a McDonalds! But there has been research that shows night shift can cause weight gain and other fun things (like an increase risk of breast cancer). May want to talk to your doctor about it. When you sleep use darkening shades to make your entire bedroom dark to offset some of the problems that shift work can do.

This is frustrating.....

I still cant eat well but I know I'm not tight...

I think the topsy turvy time frame has my body all confused!!! I seem to be eating all the time now but little tiny bits of food and I sleep all day long...

I havent kept a tract of how much calories I'm taking in and dont seem to be losing weight anymore...

I'm gonna start logging my food consumption to see exactly how many cals I'm eating per day or night.

But I do notice inches lost especially in my arms cuz i'm mopping floors alot HE HE... :)

I work nights too, have for the last 3 yrs and it has caused such havoc on my body...not only did I gain 60lbs in 3 yrs from eating all night to stay awake, but its very hard going from days for school to nights for work 3 days a week and that caused major issues too. I feel that my band is loose in the am when I get home from work and sometimes I do the worst thing possible and eat before bed...but then again I don't eat again till 7pm with sleep and getting ready for work again. I just have to remember to pack my 3 meals and snack when I work the weekends of 4 12hr shifts back to back to help with the extra grazing. Also I found that iced coffee, with splenda and non fat milk helps me feel better to eat when I wake up...I wouldn't think iced would be the way to go but it works for me. Hope u get to a happy place w ur band and eating and working nights :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
