I seem to do best when I have 1200 or more calories.......eating like 6 times a day...I think some people eat less though. I meant to ask my doctor today how many calories I should be having and I forgot!!!

My goal is 1400 a day. I'm still on mushies so I'm only getting about 800 a day. Eating that few calories isn't good for me, so hopefully I can start getting more in soon!

I aim for 1200, but sometimes go higher, sometimes end up lower. I use livestrong.com, the website and iPhone app. According to that site I need to eat around 1400 calories per day to lose 2 lbs per week. I usually don't get up that high, but sometimes wonder if I should because 2 lbs per week is not happening

Mine is about 1100-1200. I'd say count them at first, to make sure you are on track, because EVERYTHING has way more calories than you think.

I'm getting between 700-900 calories a day. I haven't started exercising yet.

I'm doing about 800 - 1,000 calories per day. However, I'm starting to notice that I could probably do a LOT more. I'm scheduled for my first fill this Saturday.

Also, I'm trying to get in about 30 - 40 minutes on the treadmill 3 -4 times per week. I'm gonna try to get more exercise in this coming week.

thanks !! see thats how this got started. I journal all of my food at the daily plate and they had me down for one set intake. yesterday my son bought me the biggest loser for the wii and i use my board for it and they put me at another count. then I came here and was reading... i was too full of numbers to know what i was doing

I work out every day 30 mins to 1 hr the daily plate takes those calories in and calulates them for ya... I just want to lose 2 lbs a week and get healthy.. even tho the wake up and be thin dream is sweet :D thats never going to happen :(

thank you all !!!

I have a window for myself, 800 - 1200 per day. That way if I eat in a restaurant, and they have some high calorie sauce on something. Lets say calorie count would end up at 1300.

I wouldn't feel so bad, because how I have cut back.

Make sure you take good Vitamins though so you keep you snap up. "energy" Flintstones complete with choline is what is recommended by my Dr.. I chew about 4 a day.

I use thedailyplate @ LiveStrong too. I set my activity level as much lower than I really am, because they don't really have a category that fits me. I don't work outside the home, and go to the gym for a minimum of 90 min. 5 or 6 days a week.

If you can afford it, I highly recommend getting a Heart Rate Monitor ( Consumer Reports recently did a brief evaluation of them .. some brands/models are better than others). I have a Polar FT-7 and it gives a better estimate of my calorie burn than the LiveStrong website or any treadmill.

To answer the OP's question, I aim for about 1200 a day, but don't worry if I go a little under or a little over. It all works out over time. As long as I'm losing I'm happy.

To the person who was wondering if they should bump up their calories cuz they weren't losing at the rate they think they should.. try it and see what happens. There was a point I was losing slower than I wanted and decided to ease up on my calorie restriction just a little and it helped me. Just don't go overboard. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
