How long to wait???

Recommended Posts

Ok...what's the deal with how long to wait after eating to drink Water? ?? My doc says to wait 1 1/2 hours. Another doc says to wait 1/2 hour. I really like the sound of waiting only 1/2 an hour cause I'm a thirsty girl. How long do y'all wait?:)

I do my own thing, I'm not a good bandster in that respect. I probably get away with it because I'm not filled yet and only just back onto a regular diet. I do wait, but its usually only an hour or so. Not the 2 hours I was told to wait.

I just plan on taking it as it comes. Later on drinking might make me hungry sooner or it may make me PB. If so I wont do it. If it continues to not make any difference like it does now I will drink when I please. But I really wouldnt want to be downing anything substantial with a meal.

Every Dr. seems to have their own theories..my Dr. aid to wait 1 hour after eating so that iswhat I did. I figured I paid him thousands of dollars to do my surgery I better listen to him

My Dr. said that you can drink up to the time you eat and then wait 1/2 after you eat, He also said listen to your body, if you feel your food is going down faster and you are getting hungry then wait longer. I wait 1/2 and feel good with that.

I saw that you got banded by Spiegel... Dr. Spivak did mine and we are supposed to wait 1/2 hour. I always wait and have not had any problems.

Seems to me that if you wait 2 hours after each meal that is 6 hours each day of waiting to drink, then add the 20 per meal that is it supposed to tak eus to eat is another hour. That brigs us to 7 hours. I was also told that it is best to go to bed with an empty pouch so nothing by mouth for 30 min before going to bed. We are at 7.5 hours with nothing to drink. I couldn't get all of my liquids in if I did that. I wait 30 mins after meals and I have lost 50 pounds in 5 months. I don't feel hungry any sooner than when I wait an hour to drink. ~Mandy

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
