BEING BANDED ON WEDNESDAY! HELP!

Recommended Posts

Hello lapband world! I am being banded this Wednesday Feb 9th! After more than ten months of testing, doctors, psychologists, diets, and flaming hoops...IT IS FINALLY HERE!

I have been reading as much as I could about preparing for surgery and what to expect....But I am now in the O MY GOD WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING?! DO I KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS?! CAN I EVEN DO THIS?! I keep going back and forth about everything..plus I AM STARVING! And want to eat everything in site! I even developed constant head aches from the stress! I guess what I am looking for is as much advice about preparing as possible...real life situations from as many people as possible. As well as life after.

I know everyone is different but I feel (even after months of research) I am not prepared at all!!!

Melanie

Melainie, just keep in mind what you have been working for for the last 10 months. I will get my band in 2 weeks and I am nervous as well. I have asked those same questions. The only thing that I know for sure is that I do not want to be fat ant longer. I have battled with being overweight for most of my adult life. I am taking control finally. Just remember the reasons you wanted to get the lap band in the first place.

Good luck tomorrow and let me know how you do.

Hey Mel, im going under the knife wed. too.... Scared to death as well, but know it's what I need to do. No more looking back at our failures but just looking forward to our success! I'm so glad there are so many on here to help support eachother... Just a hint though, stay away from the negative posts and keep a positive mind and follow the rules! Good luck and I'll be right there with you ( so to speak). Go Fat! ( no.. I really mean it.. Go away fat! Lol)

Also having it done on Wednesday. Melanie I see you are also in NJ. By any chance are you having it done in AC?

Just think of that weight coming off and how everyone is going to be telling you how fantastic you look. And think of your health. How it will improve it keep you from many problems that the weight can cause.

I am scheduled to be banded on 2/16, next week. I share many of the same thoughts and fears as you do! You are not alone I keep asking myself why I can't just do this like I am doing on the liquids!? If only I could I wouldn't have to have the band, but as my track record has shown, on my own I do ok for a bit and then gain it back along with some more! Please keep us posted on how it all goes. Smiles.......

Just stay strong. Once you get to the clinic they can give you drug to calm your nerves. I am being banded today. I am so thirsty, have a head ache, a little sad as I am scared as I have never had surgery, kind of just numb & tears of joy.

Big treat this morning I am going to have a long shower!

Good luck & see you on the band side sisters! Bigs hugs to all.

First and foremost, GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!! It is so very exciting and I can't wait to hear all about your experience!

Mel, YOU CAN DO THIS!! I am getting banded 2/22. I was supposed to have the bypass surgery 1.5 years ago and canceled because I got scared. I am glad that I canceled only because the lap band is what is best for me, but my point is that I understand what you are feeling. It is human nature to get nervous and to question what are we doing and why, etc.... But in your heart you know that this is best for you to get healthy. Go with that feeling and tell those nerves to get lost!! :) Look how far you came, you are at the end, you did it!! You are going to do great and be fine! I can't wait to hear how everything goes for you!! Good luck!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
