Breakfast anyone?

Recommended Posts

I usually eat breakfast before 9AM each day. I have around 300 calories. Today I had one egg with cheese 70 + 80 cal, 1 1/2 piece of bacon 75 cal , and 1/4 cup of fried potatos 110 cal. I eat what I want on Sat and Sun and stick to a routine during the week.:)

I too usually eat with in 1 hour of waking up...I dont count the calories but have 1 cup of oat meal and a cup of coffee...I like to cook my oatmeal over night in a crockpot that way it's ready for me when I get up.

I have egg beaters, with chicken breast and salsa and 1 piece of toast. I like breakfast to be my biggest meal for some reason. I eat right when I wake up, I go brush me teeth and stuff then eat.

How soon after waking is eating considered breakfast, and how many calories and how much Protein does it need to be to be called a meal?

Okay I am going to have to admit that somedays I skip breakfast... or might just have coffee and yogurt. Mainly because my band feels tighter we I first wake up. As far as Protein and calories are concerned, my general feeling it doesn't matter how much or how little it as its concidered a meal or snack and they all add up to my daily caloric intake. Easiest thing for me to remember that there is no such thing as free calories.

Breakfast is hard for me. When I get up I have meds I have to take on an empty stomach. Then after 30 to 45 minutes I'm ready for my coffee. I eat after I finish my coffee which means some days I never get around to it.

My boys used to crawl out of bed at noon and eat 'breakfast'. Their definition of breakfast was 'the first meal of the day'...no matter what time it is.

I'm an early riser...usually up by 6 a.m. I don't eat breakfast until around 7 or 7:30 and then lunch is 5 hours after that and dinner 5 hours after lunch. It's just what works for me now that my band is at its sweet spot.

Since my last fill, I'm too tight in the mornings so I have a low carb/low cal Protein shake. Lately I've been having one mid-morning as well. Since lunch and dinner are similar (3 oz Protein, 1/2 cup vegies, *sometimes* 1/4 cup of rice or potatoes), my calories are pretty much spread out across the 3 meals.

During the week, I tend to have a Protein shake every morning (I drink it in the car on the way to work) - it is quick and easy for me. After that, I have a mid morning high Protein snack, lunch and dinner. Sometimes, I might have a mid-afternoon snack if I am really hungry.

On the weekends I tend to have more of a brunch instead of breakfast - usually a 2 egg omelet with about 2 oz protein and 1/4 cup of 2% cheese. Then I will have a mid-afternoon high protein snack and dinner.< /p>

Later I have Chobani Greek Fat Free Yoghurt with fruit with the follow add ins: Half scoop whey isolate Protein Powder, splendra, benefiber, 1 Protein scoop Kashi go Crunch. About 26 g protein, appr. 220 cal.

I drink my cup of coffee on the way to work. Then when I get hungry I have Breakfast. Usually an instant oatmeal, Protein bar, or graham crackers with Peanut Butter. If I try to eat first thing in the morning, it just isn't pretty. But I am up at 5am and hit the ground fast, out the door in 30 minutes. I don't want to eat that early in the morning or in that big of a rush.

I wait until I get the hungry signal from my stomach. The last time I tried to eat that early in the morning we were getting ready for an early flight. My hubby, bless his heart, scrambled us some eggs and made toast. The eggs REFUSED to go down. It was 4:30am. No way, no how were eggs gonna go...I felt horrible. But he was very sweet and understanding.

Course I was starving two hours later on the plane...oh well.

I don't worry about the amt of Protein or carbs in any meal, but that's just me. I'm usually well over my 60 gram minimum of Protein by the end of the day. I eat very little processed or white carbs.

I try to eat something within 2 hours of getting out of bed, preferably one hour, but definitely by 2. The reason being is that it's thought by many that having something to eat kickstarts your metabolism into a higher gear.

I start my mornings with coffee and my Vitamins. I take several supplements (by my own choice.. not prescribed, but they ARE ok'd by my PCP) so it usually takes me a few minutes to get them down. Then I have my breakfast.. most of the time it's steelcut oatmeal with 1/4 of an apple chopped into it. The oatmeal I eat has 7 grams of protein in it, have no idea on the carbs.. but since steelcut oatmeal is low glycemic, it doesn't spike my blood sugar.

I have oatmeal most mornings because I workout hard most mornings. Days that I don't workout, I usually have a veggie/egg/eggwhite scramble.. sometimes adding bacon bits or a turkey sausage link.

When in doubt.. you can call the dietician or nutritionist who works with your doctor (they do have one right?).

Hope this helps.

I'm usually tighter in the mornings, so I definitely have to eat slower for breakfast. As long as the eggs are not dry I usually have a scarmbled egg with a little cheese sprinkled on it for breakfast. During the week I eat about 2 hours after I get up. On the weekends usually just when I get around to it. I occasionally will have oatmeal or Cereal. Sometimes I'll just drink a shake or a glass of milk.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
