February 2011 Bandsters?

Hi All,

I have a surgery date of 2/11/11. I have a BMI of 35.9 with several comorbidities. I am hoping to hear soon that I have been approved. I have been medically cleared by everyone except the Pope, himself.

Is there anyone out there who is scheduled for February?

Yep not bad at all! I haven't really told anyone either, just my mom and my 2 close friends. I figure once I'm approved, have the surgery and the pounds start dropping then I'll tell people if they ask. I couldn't agree with you more about this board! I'ts been such a huge help and the people on here are great!!

That's what I did. Only a few people knew before the surgery. I just didn't want anybody else's 2 cents. I took a lot of time researching this and I made my decision. I just didn't want their input. But once I started losing the weight, if people asked, I told them.

I think I'm going to stroke out! I am still waiting on a response from my surgeons office...something tells me I won't be able to be banded in February...I can't even get them to tell me if the sun is shinning outside! Please return a call respond to an email....dag!

LOL You're funny! Hopefully they will call you soon... that sucks waiting to hear when you are expecting to hear!

@duffy777 Glad they found your blod clots before you had the surgery. THat's really scary..but glad to hear you are okay hon!

Hi CincyUdy,

Had my surgery 1/14/11, so far I have lost about 25llbs. My doctor wants post surgery, 2wks liquid 2wks musy foods and then solids, so one thing I have found out by being on this sight is everyone is different, how they lose and doctors require different diets.

But I would think if most people who stick to the above restrictions they should definitely loose weight. But the band is to be used as a tool to loose, but slowly so you can remain healthy. I am about where you are now, and need to get down to 150llbs also, but I feel like with time and work, I will "DEFINITELY" reach my goal! Best of Luck

WOW you're doing really good hon! Doctors sure do require different diets all for the same outcome...ya know? I wonder if anyone was supposed to do one diet..but from doing alot of research..just did something else and was okay??

Keep up the good work Lori!

Thanks Smokey,

You are right, it is very interesting to see what different doctors want us to do. I am really staring to get hungry, my post op appointment is 1/25 hope he will give me a fill!

Hopefully he will give you a fill! I have a friend who just moved here who needs to get fills so I'm trying to find a doc for her to do her fills..hopefully I will find someone because I heard my doc doesn't give very many fills...so I'll go elsewhere if I need too!

I can't wait to hear what he says at your appt!!

Hi there :D I'm Polly, and I am having my lapband done in February! In fact, I am calling the scheduler back tomorrow to pick a date. It has been a long road as I was supposed to have it done over a year ago, but my husband got a terrific job offer and we moved from Houston to San Antonio and the new insurance did not cover it. So we began to save money and here I am. I am excited but very nervous, however, when I start to feel anxious....all I think of is how many things are wrong with me physically that will be sooo much better in the long run. I just turned 40 last month, so this is, in a way, a birthday present to myself, in the hopes that I have many, many more birthdays!! :D

I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, a form of hypothyroidism, and I also have PCOS and a mess of other little annoying things that tie into those two.

I live in San Antonio, I have been married 8 1/2 years and have two sweet little girls. I look forward to getting to know you all as we move through this journey together!!

I GET BANDED on FEB. 7TH! I cant believe how fast I got a surgery date! Super excited!!!!!!!!!!!! I quite smoking, and bought the e-cig. it is working out pretty well so far. I start pre-op diet on monday!

Thanks! I know this will be a great tool for me to get healthy and be more active for my son. I have a 9 month old that I look forward to the day I can keep up with him. I am doing this now so he knows that being over weight is not the right way to live. I want him to know what a fit mother is and be fully engaged in his life.

Welcome everyone! I'm so happy to see our February group growing. I wish there was an easier way to post instead of in one single topic thread. Does anyone have any ideas?

I just got GREAT NEWS! I got approved!! Yippee! I will be getting my surgery on 2/11/11. I'm very excited and anxious. I need to get going on this. I cannot stand myself anymore at this weight and I want to feel better!!! I was told by the NUT that I had to just maintain my weight until I was approved because I am a 35.9 BMI (with a number of cmorbidities) and didn't want to run the risk of being rejected by insurance if I dropped below a 35. It is funny...someone tells me to keep eating and I'm anxious to diet! GO FIGURE!

I think this board is wonderful. The support is great and I know it will help me as I continue with this journey.

GOOD LUCK TO US ALL!!
