Feeling Down An Out
4 weeks ago I suffered a slight slip in my band and had all my fill removed. That's a lap bands patients worst nightmare! So since 4 weeks ago I've managed to gain 7lbs! I'm depressed and just all around feel fat and bloated. Sounds ridiculous while I'm writing this but I know how hard I've worked over the last year going from 286lbs to 171lbs! Plus 7 more now... Loser! I do go back to the doc on Thursday in hopes my band corrected itself and get filled. If not ... Then I'm not sure what ... Anyone else go through anything like this? I'm completely deflated!

Looking For A Mentor- Anywhere
Hi Cass, I was banded Feb 28,2011 and to date lost 115lbs. I recently had a small band slip and got a complete unfil. I go back next week to the doc and see if it corrected itself and start the fill process again. It was a hard blow to take cause you do get attached to the band once you've had my success and feel naked when it's not filled to help you. Anyway, I'm happy to help you in anyway.... Shoot me an email if you'd like to talk more. Ecarlson30@gmail.com Erin

Had An Unfill Today:(
Wow you got off easier than me. I had the exact same thing happen to me but I tried to wait mine out thinking maybe I was just swollen or something. Well the reflux at night wouldn't go away and I could only eat like 2 bites of anything at meals. So I went in to the doctor who immediately looked at my band under the fluoroscope and found I had a slight slip. Bam! Pulled out all the fill and it was immediate relief. So now I'm living with no fill scared to death. It's been almost 3 weeks since then and so far I've only gained a couple lbs but for me that is fine. I go back next week to see if the slip corrected itself and start getting filled back up again. I can't wait. I hope it's fixed cause I feel so naked and exposed without my safety net! Good luck and hopefully you are all better!

Has Anyone Experienced This Type Of Pain?
I had the exact same problem and feelings. Went to my doc and my band had slipped. He unfilled my completely and I go back next week to see if that corrected it and start getting fills again.

Band Unfill
Well today I had a bad day! Finally broke down and went to the doctor. Been pretty miserable over the last 2 months with reflux, and being way to tight. Couple bites of anything was all I could handle at a sitting. Under fluoroscopy today he saw my band had a slight slip. He's hoping with the fluid out of the band it will correct itself. So for the next 4 weeks I'm living with no fill and scared to death!!!! I've managed to lose 119 lbs dice being banded feb 2011. Went from a pants size 22 to now an 8! I'm terrified not having that restriction. I know I can do it because I've changed my life but wondering if any others have had a similar situation????

Dizziness And Passing Out
Interesting enough, my husband had the Vertical sleeve back in October. Since then he's passed out 6 or more times. Plus dizzy all the time. After a ER visit and a couple cardiologists later he was diagnosed with vasovagel syncope! He went through numerous tests and now on medication. He is 37 yrs old and on Monday he's going in to get a pacemaker. Be sure on vacation to drink at least 3 liters of water a day. Increase your salt intake and try and avoid prolonged heat exposure. Immediately see a doctor when you get home. There's so many reasons people pass out and get dizzy. Most the time it's harmless but it could be a serious issue so please get checked out.

Need Advice From The Veterans
Thank you all for the responses. I've been at my perfect sweet spot till about a couple months ago and off and on lasting longer than I'd like, a week or more with only being able to eat broth or things like that. Then I'm good for a day or two and right back in the same boat. The reflux at night is horrendous and every night I wake up at 2:30am and have to get in the lazy boy. Pepto, tums, acid reducer pills do not work. Another weird sensation is after I eat when I'm super tight my back will kill me. I'm waiting to hear back from a local doctor to see if he can see me and how much that will cost. Bad part is I'm paid up fully with my surgeon that is 17 hours away till feb next year, so it'd be free for me to see him if I was there. Money speaking its a hard pill to swallow!!!

Need Advice From The Veterans
Was banded Feb 2011. I got to my sweet spot last October. I'm down 115lbs and within the last month I'm so tight I eat 3 bites and that's about it. I've tried days of liquids only in case of swelling, get 1 good day of eating then back to feeling stuck all the time. My Doctor is 17 hours away! I don't think it slipped because I can eat soup, drink and even eat baked fish. Any ideas???

Is Having Good And Bad Days Part Of The Lap-Band Journey?
It's a long journey but I'll be the first to tell you.... 13 months post op and I'm down 104 lbs!!! It's all worth it! Just takes patience and hard work, especially in the beginning. As you get fills you will see the purpose behind the band. Stay strong till then!

Texas Where You At???
Northwest Houston! Banded 2/28/11 down 101 lbs!
-
Would It Be Stupid??
I think that is a great goal! You will have to work hard and monitor your eating and exercise! I started this at 286 and had my surgery 2/28/2011 I lost exactly 100 lbs in that year and it was not impossible. I'm now at a stall since then but I feel fantastic! You can do it! Good luck!

Hi! New Here And I Have A Question.
I did it and it was no big deal.. You will learn a lot too if they provide you with a dietician to meet with at your appointments every month. Good luck!

Fish Oil Capsules
I'm at my sweet spot and can take any pills at any time! Sometimes my multi vitiamin sits there but doesn't take long to go down fine.

Banded For 2 Months, Slipped, Removed...moving Forward!
I was banded last year and my husband got the sleeve last October because he did not want the band maintenance or stuck sensation he'd seen me go through. We eat about the same portion sizes and he's lost over 80 lbs since October. I recommend the sleeve if the band didn't work. He does get a lot of acid refux however. Good luck!

Weird Pains 2 Week Post Op.
Could be your gall bladder... Go to your doctor!

5 Weeks Post Op Questions!
Ok so what you're feeling is completely normal. And so your not disappointed when you get your fill this will take multiple fills to get to where you need to be and where you feel your band is a tool. Start measuring your food and eat your meals on a bread plate. That helps me. My doctor told me most women with a 10cc band will be in the range of 6.5cc and 8.5cc at their sweet spot. I reached mine finally after 8 months post op! It is so different when you get here. So be patient and realize this is a marathon not a sprint. Start evaluating what your eating... If you want something sweet or something you know you shouldn't have then google a healthy equivalent! That helps me. Moderation is key to success! Don't deprive yourself just be smart about it. Good luck! Oh and no you should not have much restriction with liquids.
-
One Month
Way to go! It keeps getting better too! Watch your portion sizes and it's about being satisfied and not hungry for 3-4 hours not about restriction. Good luck and keep it up!

Pain After Eatinh
Yep that is the "you ate too much" signal!!! Feels like a sharp runners cramp? That is definitely from eating too much. Watch your portion sizes!

Day 2 Of Liquid Diet- Headaches!!!
Your body is basically detoxing from caffeine and all the foods you used to eat. Give it a couple more days and you'll be fine. I went through the exact same thing with real bad headaches and being SO tired. Only lasts a few days so wait it out. Good luck!
