I thought I was the only one with this problem. I have been banded for over a year now, and I still can't get rid of my hiccups. They aren't serious though. I mainly get them after I eat or drink. I don't know of any way to fix this problem, but I'm interested to find out.

I get the hiccups all of the time after I eat and drink. I talked to my doctor and he said that it's probably because my stomach is now resting against my diaphragm when it gets full. Nothing has helped me.

:D Me too!! I was banded on 12/28 and have short bursts of hiccup everyday! and they are really, really painful at the port site!! I also had a hiatal hernia repair at the time of banding, so I assumed that the hiccups came from the diaphragm healing from the hernia repair but maybe not if hiccups are this common....I usually put one hand over my port site (for the pain) and take a deep breath and hold........Hope that helps!!

OK this is not good for weight loss for obvious reasons and I am not sure if it is OK with the post op diet but I had a nurse tell me to take a teaspoon of sugar and put it under my tounge and let it dissolve. I get horrible hiccups alot (not banded yet) and this has never failed me yet!!

Hiccups and air in my stomach and gas have been the worse. I was banded 12/27. As my stomach heals, it doesn't hurt so bad.

Please don't make fun of me, but I never thought I'd be so in tune to my bodily functions. I've been super proud of getting through a burp or a fart. It's like I'm a baby.

Sorry I don't have any suggestions. Would love to hear what other people say. It happens most after I eat, but I'm not eating much or fast. When I think it is bad, I get on the scale and that does make me feel better.

Wait, I did go into the doctor for a strep test yesterday and I complained that I needed to cough, but it hurt too much. She told me to take a soft pillow and hold it tight against my stomach when I cough. I wonder if that would work for hiccups. Worth a try at least. She said, "the pillow is going to be your friend."

The pillow has worked wonders for me in the last week !! I was banded a week ago and when im in the car its the worst cause of bumps and what not, but with the pillow against me has helped.

Pillows are highly recommended from me!!! =)

I get the hiccups a lot now also, after I eat or drink. There seems to be no correlation with what or how much. This morning I took a sip of a Protein Drink and had the hiccups a minute later. Go figure. Oh well, hiccups are better than fat right?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
