ok so maybe it wasn't the bread. I now have the gurglies. My husband has been home sick for 4 days. I thought maybe it was just something he ate but since I seem to now be coming down with it, maybe not. Interesting that my band has been tight since last night as well.

So,

I showered, did my hair and makeup, got dressed in my new jeans and sweater, then my plans to go to the bigger city fell apart. I was feeling pretty damn good about the way I looked and decided I should just do a little running around my tiny little town since I had the day off and was dressed. I went to the coffee shop and ordered a skinny latte, then to the little gift shop next door and chatted a bit with some local ladies. All was well and I was feeling great. I went in the little goodwill store and found a cool lamp shade I think I want to paint for $1.99 !Then the dip shit at the register asked me if I wanted the senior discount! Hell no, I don't want the damn senior discount I'm in my 40s beotch! Well, that shot all my good feelings all to hell. I should have told her yes and took the damn discount, but I was just so offended. I was feeling so good about the way I looked before I left the house I had even considered taking an "after" picture. Now I feel like it would be my obituary pic.

OMG HB...I'm so sorry...but I'm really laughing with you <wiping tears from my eyes>. Was she a 'young' person because you know they think anyone over 30 should be put out to pasture.

Incidents like this always bring to mind the scene from 'Fried Green Tomatoes' where she says, "Face it girls, I'm older and have better insurance."

Tawanda!!

Hey, maybe the caption under the pic will be " Sexy Senior Citizen."

It's starting out to be a lovely day...not. I definitely am coming down with whatever my husband had. My stomach has been rumbling and gurgling since I woke up...with headache still intact...and my band is still super tight. Fortunately, I'm happy with a Protein Shake for Breakfast.< /p>

Shad...I'm assuming you're doing well since I thought I saw a post by you in another thread. How did it go?

Hey everyone! Thanks for checking on me. I am doing great! I had to check-in at 8:00am yesterday but didn't go to prep until about 10:00. The surgery was only about 30 minutes if that long according to my husband. I was in recovery longer than that--for 2 hours! The recovery nurse said I was sensitive to pain medicines because I just kept falling back to sleep instead of deep breathing. Every time she would tell me to wake up, as soon as she turned her head, I was out. This cause my stats to drop, so I had to stay back there to the sleepy dwarf inside me got it together. When the sent me back to the room, I still slept. :D. They gave me a optisource Protein Shake and some apple juice, I am not sure what caused it, but I became nauseated, so much so i could not get up to urinate so I could fly the coop! They gave me nausea meds before and after surgery, but i guess they did not work. Finally they gave me phenergran, (sp?), tried and true. They knocked me out for about an hour (hey don't judge my dwarf lol) and after that no nausea and went straight to the bathroom. By then it was 8pm! I was home by 3:00pm with the regular surgery! Lol. Anyway they took all my Fluid out and is going to put that much back in in 2 weeks at follow up. I guess I am swollen because I am not hungry He said my port was fine, so they just moved the old one right over my belly. Sore, but in no pain. Went back through the original port incision (it's the most sore because he also cleaned out any scar tissue and put a new incision at the new port sight--doesn't hurt at all:)

Denise: congrats on the new size,

HB: poot on that jerk. I work with small children who say I am old everyday and I just turn 38 next week(woo-hoo right on time--I will be off liquids. I am going to find a soupy dessert or purée the heck out of some cake). Strut your stuff!

HB-- I am laughing my butt off as well, but the reasons would be me imagining you calling someone a beotch and the fact this little twit must have been 18 or 19 to ask such a question. I am sure you looked HOT all dolled up in your new jeans and sweater!

LOL @ Elfie about the Fried Green Tomatoes scene!!! Thanks for the chuckles!!

Shads...wait...they moved the old one over your belly? They didn't take it out so you now have two? I'm sooo confused and have visions of you as a teletubby <running...fast>

You know, HB, your story is too funny! Sorry, but it made me laugh. Take the discount next time. They offered it, you didn't ask for it! No harm, no foul! My hubby now qualifies for some senior discounts. ARGH! I feel so old. (He is 10 years older than I).

My face deflated like a balloon with the weight loss. I used to love long, thin necks. Like whats-her-name in Pirates of the Caribbean. Now I look at pictures of myself and all is see is this skinny neck and wrinkles around the eyes! Then I try to think oh, I look just like the heroine in Pirates! HA! Yeah, right! blink.gif 47 years old, I DON'T think so! But hey, I have a long, thin neck anyway!

LOL. Tele tubby is funny. Let me clarify--still a little drugged. He had mentioned before the surgery that if my current port was looking worn he would go ahead and replace it. It was fine, so he just repositioned my old one. Port revision surgery is misleading. All he was doing was taking the flipped port and moving it to a more accessible spot. It was on my left side, flipped, and right in my belly fat that was hard to get to without very painful fills. Now my fills should go well.

Everyone is so quiet!

It's a bitterly cold morning here in the midwest (below zero) and I so don't want to go out but unless I want to listen to the pitiful cries of two cats, it's off to the grocery store for cat food. Winter didn't usually bother me. I'd run around with no gloves or hat and my coat never buttoned, but since surgery I'm *always* cold. My sweet mother-in-law bought me an electric mattress pad for my bed last winter...which I say 'thank you' for every night when I crawl under the warm sheets and I think it's the reason I've been going to bed at 8 or 9 p.m. I'm thinking battery powered heated socks or long johns are next.

I normally don't eat Soup these days but I think it's a good day to make some potato leek soup. Since I'm not eating wheat these days, maybe I'll even make a crusty artisan bread for the troops as a treat. They've been so uncomplaining about my not making homemade bread.

Then I think I'll muck off my dining room table. I haven't seen the top of it since Christmas because it's the 'don't know where to put it so we'll just leave it on the table' drop spot.

Hope you all are doing well!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
