Protein Shakes / Dairy Pre-Op diet

So, I'm on my pre-op diet for 7 days, this is day 2, my little booklet say no milk products or solids, which makes sense, but I have to have 3-4 Protein shakes a day, and Clear liquids.. don't all the Protein Shakes have some kind of milk product or milk protein? I'm not mixing them with milk, just Water. It does say I can have whey Isolate protein or Soy Protein Shakes.

But, Whey is milk protein isn't it?

Just curious if anyone had insight on this...

Seems silly but I can't seem to find an answer

I would think that the rule to no milk products would mean that you shouldn't mix your Protein shakes with milk and avoid the use of yogurts and powdered milk when making a protein drink/smoothie.

You are right though, whey is dairy. So, to be on the safe side, I'd certainly call and check with your surgeon. But I'd bet that if your surgeon has recommended whey protein powders to you, the statement of avoiding dairy applies to what you're adding to your Protein drinks.

I agree that they probably mean don't mix your Whey protein shakes with milk, yoghurt, or Ice Cream.

Ok, yea I haven't been, I'm pretty sure that's what they meant too. The nurse I deal with is a little.. uh... dingy. I did ask when I was there the other day, I hadn't realized that they all have milk in em anyways. But yea I'm sure this is fine.
