December 2010 Bandsters out there?

Recommended Posts

Lucky,

This time isn't about losing. It's about healing. Dont worry - it will happen. also, they may have pumped you full of saline during surgery which you body might retain for a few more days - especially if you are becoming dehydrated.

Be patient. It will happen.

Best wishes!

Hello December Bandsters!! I am now 11 post op. I am feeling really good. I still some gas pain in my left shoulder but only for a minute or two. So far I am not sure how I feel abou the restriction I feel. I am on the mushie stage of eating and I have felt "full" only a couple of times. I am not over eating and I am only eating the amount that was recommened but not because my body it telling me to stop eatng i stop because the doctor said so! I have lost 10 pound since surgery and I am happy about that. I get my first fill January 11th. I am afraid that my will power will not hold on that long!! I think as long as the weight is coming off I will be motivated to keeping making good choices. I FEEL like I can eating anythingi i like I have not tried this. i do not know how I would feel if I over ate. I guess I should just be happy that everything is going really well.

I read A LOT of the post here and I want to thank all of you for posting! This website has been a true "friend" through out all of this!

So I finally bought a scale, I'm almost 12 lbs lighter, on day 13. I only did a 2 day pre-op diet of Clear Liquids, so yay for my BAND. I was worried that I wasn't losing, I thought I was stuck at 8-8 lbs lighter.

I don't really have alot of restriction, honestly I can eat pretty much normal foods, but smaller amounts.

Purpleshell,

I had my banding three days ago in Spain -- my doctor said he is more agressive about getting his patients back on solid foods. I am on liquids for three days, soft foods for 4, and back to "regular" food the second week, with restrictions. There seems to be a lot of variety in how doctors approach aftercare eating, but the big thing I was told was to listen to my body -- if I'm overdoing, my stomach will let me know! :)

Ckeely - I like that approach to the getting us back to regular foods, if one doctor is doing it that way, than it's not a completely crazy idea!

Thanks, Check.

I'm getting a bit stir crazy here....I'm can handle the liquids when I see the scale moving but now I'm getting frustrated b/c I'm drinking way less than I did post-op and nothing. I appreciate your support....I'll hang in there. I go back to work tomorrow so let's hope that keeps my mind off of things.

Hi everybody, well I got my band on Friday Dec 17th around 6pm. Dr said he had no problems with me. That's a good thing, when I started to see my dr about getting the lapband I was weighing in at 368lbs. This Saturday morning the 18th the nurses made me get on a scale and I was shocked I was 341lbs

SWWEEEEET!

Well i got released Saturday from the hospital and came home I tried sleeping in my bed and I could it's too soft and it was a double pillow top so it's very uncomfortable. So I slept in a recliner didn't sleep much but I feel rested with very lil pain soooo tats good.

I do have a question to ask everyone

SHOWER?

HOW SOON

ANY STEPS I NEED TO TAKE

THANKS

On q pump is a disposable type pain pump they sent me home with. All of my incisions are covered with dermabond and I can shower without having to do anything else. I have no gauze or anything else on mine. What is yours covered with?

Oh I didn't get no pump. They did wrap me up with this binder. It's a lil tight but it feels good having that pressure. My dr and nurse are comedians so they said I have elmers glue on my cuts hahaha. So I guess I'll be fine with that funky glue they use they did tell me no warm Water when I shower though

Purple; thanks! yea, I'm not too concerned, but for my family it was just always a big food fest, we'd go have those $300 steak dinners and all that, but I'm content with what I can have. More gambling for me :P

Lucky; I'm not either. Maybe a pound. Probably just because we are recovering? I have no idea haha. Also they put a ton of liquid in you at the hospital via IV... and the liquid diet isn't to lose weight, it was to make your liver shrink, then now it's to recover so your band sets in place or something.

Mine said shower 48 hours after, but I did it the next day, I just wrapped in saran wrap hahaha, then I took a real one the day after. Dermabond? I have those ugly Steristrips over mine.

I just ate my 1/4 cup of oatmeal (first puree meal). Yea, not exactly full, probalby another 1/4 cup I'd be stuffed. But I'm not hungry either. I don't want to cheat.

Banded Dec 17, feel pretty good but have lots of gas/bloating feeling, otherwise feel good. I was told 72 hr to shower? I will be starting the fuller liquid diet tomorrow, haven't weighed and don't plan to for a week or so.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
