Hi everyone!

Recommended Posts

Not sure if anyone remembers me, I haven't posted in FOREVER! I was hoping to get some support.

I lost 120 pounds, got pregnant and am now just down a net of 90 pounds. After pregnancy I had to have my gallbadder removed and I had a slip from all the vomiting from the gall badder attacks, so they did a complete unfill. I'm finally filled at a good spot, and am slowly losing, but I'm feeling so discouraged and am having a hard time re-motivating myself. I was so motivated at the beginning and so proud of every pound, but it's almost like now I expect weight loss and when it doesn't happen as fast as before, I get discouraged and seek out the ice cream.

Any advice for getting remotivated?

BTW, losing the weight is what enabled me to GET pregnant. I have a happy and healthy son now!

I have had a few complications of being too tight and having and unfil and gaining 22 pounds and then finally getting to a good spot. I have lost 12 again and have another 10 to go until I am where I was at. I still need to lose between 20- 30 more depending on where I decide to be or my body decides...lol

I have found if I eat more Protein and make sure I eat slowly and chew my food well I don't have the vomiting I had before where I only drank Protein shakes. I was a tight size 8, but very weak because of not having more than 400 calories a day. My surgeon said I gained after my slight unfill because I was eating normal (around 1000 calories) and my body was not used to that amount. I upped my exercise and followed the "rules better and am losing again. I do fear that I will not get to my goal with the band and have thought of the gastric sleeve, but wonder if I'm just trading a "tool" for a "tool". I had an irritated esophagus and severe acid refluc and went in to see my surgeon. He said it was normal and to take over the counter meds for it. I have never had hearburn in my life except for when I was pregnant and now I have it several times a day. I'm really having a hard time with it and am hoping it stops soon.

Congrats on your baby boy. I have two sons who are my world. It sounds like you are doing well. Keep up the good work.

Blessings,

Brenda

Hi there!

I totally remember you, Mrs. Flip Flops! Congrats on your baby!

Here's an update on me: I got down 115 lbs, to about 20 lbs from my goal weight. Then I got pregnant, had a complete unfill and gained 75 lbs or so with that pregnancy. I quit looking at the scale at the end of the pregnancy because it caused me so much anxiety. I got some fills and tried doing better after the baby was born, but hadn't been able to make any progress that stuck. Well, I was invited to do a diet game with my family starting at the beginning of December. (5 months postpartum at that point.) It is the only thing that has worked. It's called the Game on Diet and it's based on a book by Krista Vernoff. (language warning for the book, btw) It combines healthy eating, healthy habits, exercise, communication, team support and accountability. I'm down 16 pounds since December 1st. It's certainly not band-speed loss, but it is sticking. We have played the game for almost three months now. We're about to start the next (4 week) round this Friday. I think I will just keep playing this game until I'm done losing weight, and maybe even beyond. Anyone is welcome to join us. Just send me a PM.

Melissa

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
