Last night the hubby and I went to TGIFridays for dinner..I ordered Pasta with grilled chicken with some kinda garlic and Tomato on it. I probably ate about 1/2 to 3/4 of a cup which is normal for me. Well the question is this, I bring the rest home for lunch today and I just take one bite and it will not go down. This has happened several times. Sometimes things will go down and sometimes the same foods just will not. Is this happening to anyone else? There are times I have to eat Special K Cereal for dinner because what we are having just will not go down but I can eat a whole bowl full of the cereal instead so Im not filled to tight.

When you eat leftovers the texture of the food is not the same as it was when it was originally cooked. Often it can be a lot drier, meat can be tougher etc.

Lots of people with bands have problems eating leftovers.

In regards to food options when you are tight; I quite like Chombani Fruited Greek Yoghurt. I add a little vanilla whey Protein Powder (which ups the Protein level), Spendra (and for Breakfast about 10 g of granola). Greek yoghurt, esp with protein powder is pretty think and stays with you a while. Nutriton wise I think you would be further ahead instead of having Cereal. Just a thought.

Pasta is tough for many bandsters. Personally, I can't tolerate it as much as I wish I could now that I'm maintaining (100% whole wheat anyway). I would watch the carbs (especially refined carbs- white flour, white sugar), pasta has a lot. Your cereal is also filled with carbs. I agree that greek yougurt would be a much better choice. Also, be sure you are taking small bites and chewing well. Best wishes!

This happened to me the other day after my fill!

Is it possible that while you were at the restaurant you had a few things stuck and it made your stomach a little bit swolen?

Hey Sistah Gyrl, WE share the same band date and unlike you I have not reched any restriction or had any of these issues. Sorry you are uncomfortable. I had my 3rd fill on Tuesday with 9cc's in a 14cc band and nothing doing. Hoping for the next time. Hang in there and be careful.:blushing:

I have good food days and I have bad food days. Yesterday was a bad food day. I had my Protein Bar, my Protein whey cereal and I think another protein bar. I tried regular food but it felt like it was getting stuck ~sigh~ So I stayed hydrated and also had hot tea. Today was a good food day  I had my protein bar and my protein whey cereal and then had P.F. Changs for dinner. I had about a bite or two of everything and I was satisfied and happy. I wanted to eat more so bad because it was so good but since I haven't had my first fill I wanted to be good - and I also don't want to test my limits with my band.

I've kind of gotten used to the fact that eating is just always going to be a surprise. One day something will go down fine...the next I'm too tight. I just go with the flow. If I take that first bite and know I've chewed well and taken a small bite, and it gets stuck, I just stop there and recognize I'm too tight and find another option.

Also, as someone else said, I have a problem with leftover meats as they are drier due to heating them up and basically overcooking them.

I've noticed a recurring theme with people getting stuck when they haven't had enough to drink that day. Maybe the stoma area is dry and food gets stuck?

I notice there are foods I can have for dinner, but I can't have them for lunch. I think, like others, the band is still a little tight in the afternoons, and it's not until dinner we loosen up more.

I notice I can do some Pasta for dinner, but rarely for lunch.

I'm with Elfie. It's like Eating Russian Roulette with the lapband. You kind of have to go with whatever mood the band is in for the day. I also agree with the leftover idea that the food does get drier when you re-heat it. Especially chicken. I can totally enjoy a meal during dinner, but when I try to eat the same thing the next day, I seem to get stuck more. What I started doing was taking even smaller bites the first couple bites and see if it's going to work or not.

Everyday is different ! Some days thins go down with no problem except breads.

Other days,,,, I just feel like shakes will do the job.

Some days even the weather can cause a difference.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
