I just want you to know you are not the only one. I've been banded just over two years and have been stationary the last year. I'm pretty frustrated because nothing seems to be able to jar me from this plateau. At least I'm no longer morbidly obese but I was hoping for a larger weight loss. I'm not quite ready for a by-pass, yet.

Hang in there --- I hit a plateau in Feb and it was so frustrating...I was stuck at 75 lbs and not moving. I started wearing an Ardyss Body Magic and taking LeVive and started losing again without changing a thing - as well as I have never felt better as I am of my allergy meds - I don't wanna keep sounding like a commercial so if you want more information just PM me. :)

Have you tried changing up your diet - making sure you are getting tons of Protein in? I know a gal who was having problems with a plateau and her doc found her thyriod was actually part of the problem as she was borderline - so once she got on meds for that it helped her get going again.

Don't give up - hopefully something will get ya moving again soon! I wish there was a magic answer...:D

Hey everyone. I am so glad that I found this thread. I have been banded almost 2 years (Nov. 19) and have been at the same weight for almost the last year. I was doing well with my weight loss initially, but then I hit a snag in the road and had a slip and every since then I have bouncing between the same 3 pounds. Its very frustrating, because I really want to take off another 30 pounds. I just really dont know what to do. I feel like my band isnt tight enough and that I can just simply eat to much food. I see my surgeon on Friday and I'm praying that she'll give me a slight fill. We are playing a tug o war on my restriction, my last fill was to tight and I was getting some reflux so she unfilled me. I'm hoping she will try a smaller fill this time and that may give me the extra boost I need. I hate to think of losing almost 100 pounds and still not being at goal... I'm so close I just hope that I can get there.

Well I've been banded for 5 yrs and only lost 35 lbs and have been sick as a dog from day one, and then nothing but lies and run-arounds from the doctor, so now I am having the stupid thing removed, what a scam ,,these guys are making a killing off the insurance companies.

Scam? I'm not sure I'd be that rough on my band. I agree the docs are making a killing off insurance but I'm still glad I have been banded. Even if I have only lost a portion of the weight, not being morbidly obese is a good achievement for me. I may never be thin, but at least I'm heathier than when I started.

I'm sorry to hear you've been sick. That would make it rough to keep.

I'm right there with you guys, however I've been paying attention to what I put in my mouth and realized that I'm really not following what the nut has told me to do as far as staying AWAY from the empty calories of chocolate and candy and the bad food. I just started a biggest loser competition at work, so I'm hoping it gives me the motivation to stay away from the crap I've been eating that's kept me from losing.

The band is a tool, and I've not been using my tool...I definitely need support and I'm glad I'm not alone in my battle of the band.

O.K.,I too have been struggling with low weight loss this past year.Afriend and I discussed this subject just today. what is it about us that sets ourselves up for failure just as we get close.? All of us had the band placed as a last result.so now we have a tool that helps us restrict our portions but we still want to eat the old way! That for me means, too many sweets, fried foods Cookies, etc. so I alredy know that indulgence of these foods made me fat in the first place! What is the mind block that makes me do this.?I say that I want to lose the rest of my weight but do I really want it bad enough to do the work or do I think by some miiracle the weight will just drop off(Iwish)!!! Maybe I think I look ok now??? I personally plan to take a good long look at this and make a decision either give up and accept where I am at or get with it and become a success story!!!!!!!!

I had a plateau for about 7 or 8 months and since I was able not to gain I thought I was ok restriction-wise! Wrong! Its all about the fills...if you are not losing weight you are ingesting more calories than you should be...get a fill even if you have to go to a different doc.

I have gone through a little of the same situation. I was banded June 2009 and lost alot the first year then stalled. I got a fill but it was too tight I couldnt even swallow Water, had an unfill brought me back down to not feeling any restriction went back in for a fill a month later because I was on a plateau at the SAME weight for a while now I have some restriction but think I need a very small fill to get me to my swwet spot and hopefully that will get me moving again.

well this post makes me feel a little bit better. I am only 5 months post op and have been stuck at 42 pounds lost for the past 2 months. This is definately not the loss I had hoped for. It is partially my own faul6t I think. I just never wrapped my head around all these rules 100% and still struggle day to day

I was banded in Aug 07. I am only about 30lbs down, now I did have a complete unfil for almost a year. I am going back in tomorrow do do a fill under floro. I feel that I have never gotten to my sweet spot. I have some restriction now but not always. Every time I got close to good restriction I had horrible reflux at night and had to get an unfil.

I own the fact that a lot of it is me not exercising enough or making poor food choices, but I was hoping to get a little more help from the band with regard to Portion Control

I am very frustrated, but not quitting yet. I know If I can get down 40 pounds, I will be off and running! Literally. I have about 100 to go to goal.

I am a little frustrated. I was wondering if there are any success stories out there? I need a little motivation right about now.

Pronetus, What meds have you tried for the reflux? Maybe you just have to find the right one. I get it when I am at my sweet spot too and it goes away mostly as I lose weight and the band loosens up. Protonix has worked great for me, Zantac and Pepcid not so much. Good luck!

Banded 11/10/09. Lost 70lbs total. So same weight for the past 4 months.... would love to go get fill, but i now would have to pay $235. Plus year blood work. I feel like i can eat more and have found myself grazing more.... I still have about 33 more to lose to be at my personal goal of 120.

I know i need to up my intensity at the gym... I try and go at least 3-4 times a week. I walk my dog 3-4 times a day. Before I leave for work, come home at lunch, at 4 when i get off and again at 9.

Fat and Happy.... my friend did the same thing and it was because her band slipped. She went to my dr and he was able to fix it. Now she is doing great.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
