Ok Lyla here is a good cajun cod- but the seasoning could be altered like to itallian, or something else

this is for 4 servings

1 lb cod or other white fish fillet

11/2 cajun seasoning

sprinkle salt

cooking oil spray

lemons quarterd

fresh parsley

preheat oven 400

rinse fish cold Water, pat dry

sprinkle cajun or what ever theme seasoning and salt and spray lightly with spray oil

bake the fish until it breaks into flakes when pierced in the thickest part, about 30 mins

squeeze lemon juice and parsely

calls 111

protien 20.5

fat 2

sat fat .4

carbs 1 Fiber .3

no another way to bake fish is

oven 375

line a roasting pan with foil- and you are going to pull it over so it is losely covered- or if you have a pan that you can losely cover might work too-

put the fish in the foil, and put your seasoning theme on top losely cover and bake again until it breaks apart- about 30 mins.

a favorite theme of mine with fish is dill, lemon, garlic salt pepper=

gawd, I am so hungry, can you tell, I keep making Soups and straining the broth and giving my family the good part,

Hi everyone, why cant I remember to take my Vitamins,

today is my first day no liquid tylenol, glad the hellish stuff is out of my life for a while.

miss joanie, kefir is delicious, but nothing compared to any Soup at this point, at this point I can't wait till the protien shakes start, man did i really say that.

yeah the Isopure koolaid, it is so sweet, it reminds me of cough Syrup, if I could pour some sparkling Water over it I'd be happy, today I mixed it with zero Vitamin Water, don't ask me why one seems better then the other.

But the real truth, I get starving, I start drinking, feel full and forget about it because it's not that exciting, so bottom line Im not getting enough protien, and really couldn't get enough if I tried, if 90 gs is the goal that is. then I forget and forget, then all of a sudden starving again, it's a visious cycle, plus I can't remember my Vitamins. In fact I'm pretty spacey myself.

I'm back to work, I too am a boss, and we just took on a new account, I make maps/ manage data, and I just can't keep a train of thought going. I hope this doesn't go on much longer.

but I have to tell you all a personal thing. I have been a terrible snorer, for a very long time. My poor husband can't sleep, I"ve always hated it. and this weight loss was my first step to trying to see if I stop snoring. Well he says that since I've been home I haven't snored at all. I wonder if the band did something in the area where I snored that stopped it. I don't know, who knows if it will keep up, but that is pretty wild I think.

and you are right about this not being the easy route, its the productive route, but definitely not easy.

kosy2: I'm with you I'm still on the full liquid diet also, who would ever think you could miss chewing. Boy I need food. This Monday will be my first post-op appointment can't wait.

Hello Sarah: I was banded on the 23rd of September also. I must agree with you I'm still very tired also, some days I may take a nap twice a day. Monday when I go for my appointment I hope the Dr give me one more week off. Here are some things the Dietitian said I can Have. My next stage is puree diet. eggs soft scrambled, soft boiled or poached, I can mix eggs with a little low fat mayo, can Beans, like Pinto, Black Beans, Refried Beans, Hummus, after cooking pureed Beef, No skin Turkey or chicken and Pork. This just an ideal of some of the food I will be able to have. I'm only able to have a 1/4 to 1/2 at a time.

Shellyh: My Dietitian put me on the same diet plan as you. You are correct it do take will powder, hang in there we are in this together.

Lisa: you are making me hungry. I'm going to cook the Cod as soon as I'm able to eat food, that sound gooood.

Lisa may be you can put your Vitamins next to your toothbrush.

This way when you see them, in the morning this may remind you to take your Vitamins.< /span>

I don't remember the name on the person that lives in Africa and doesn't have Popsicles,

sorry I know I'm spacey and day late and a dollar short on this one, but do you have a freezer - if so you could make your own, wattery juice, diet drink of some kind, tea with fake sugar, freeze it in a little cup with a stick or a ice cube tray and some tiny sticks in it and you are in business. if no freezer sorry- as an american I am obsessed with my ability to freeze things, even though I know it uses a lot of power.

anyway I a amazed to hear of a lap band person in Africa, that is great. good to hear your story.

Hi Everyone,

It's nice to read so many comments by people in approx the same place in this. I am 1 week post op and still VERY sore at the port site. I'm wondering if I have Fluid around it, like I read in another post. I don't think there is anything wrong -- just feels sore and slow to heal and I couldn't possibly lay on my stomach or side yet. I don't see the surgeon until the 12th.

Question -- does anyone else take a lot of pills? I have a blood pressure (capsule full of BITTER powder), a cholesterol med, restless legs, and a couple of others. I can't bear the taste of them mixed with pudding; actually causes me to gag it's so bitter so last night a cut them into small pieces -- each pill cut into between 4-6 pieces and I took them with sips of Water every 3 - 5 minutes. Well, I had to stay up an extra hr to get the meds down (I'll start earlier tonight).

Are there alternatives? My doc said the pills I take are not available in liquid form but he may have to change me to some that are, because this is ridiculous! I hope to come off some of these meds as I continue to lose weight but for now...any ideas?

Just finihed some cottage cheese mixed with applesauce and put through the blender -- not quite liquid, but almost! YUMMM. Just a couple more days and I can start the full mushies.

Thanks - Looking forward to any help you have to offer.

Hi Wanna B Healthy, you know this one doc that I went to his information session that has like 200 surgeries under his belt said he had never heard of someone getting stuck on something the size of a pill, even a horse pill. I dont know if thats true, or if maybe you should er on the side of cautious because you are still have swelling- but maybe once you've healed in a couple weeks you could just cut the big ones in half. I dont know, I do know I'm sure any food I eat will be bigger then a half of a horse pill, and I hope it won't get stuck, the real problem is if you have to eat them with food, I mean if you measure them all are they like a 1/8 cup size, that's like 1/4 a meal right there in terms of how much you can take in at a meal once you are in your sweet spot. I am a huge pill hater- i feel for you.

WannaBeHealthy....I posted something similar 2 weeks ago...after much trial and error...ie:gagging and whining....I now get all the pills in a shot glass, mix them with Water, like 1/3 way up the shot glass and let them sit...and sit....and sit...until they are all a chalk like texture...i then get a sugar free popcicle ready...i shoot the pill water, cringe just a little, and suck on the popcicle which gets rid of the bitterness.....quite the process I know, but it works....good luck..

Hi everybody. Well, I am 9 days post op. It isn't going too bad. I can get down my Water, I am managing about 60-70 g of Protein in shakes and protein mixed in my 0 calorie Powerade. But that is about all I can get down. Maybe some Jello or broth but I'm not really hungery, and all the liquid fills me up. So, my question is, since I'm probably only getting about 400 calories a day should I add more calories some how, if so any suggestions?

I am back at work, but so far I only last about 5 hours. I think if I could consume more caloried, I might get my strength & energy back and make it through the day.

cicigirl & LisaA - Thanks for taking the time to reply -- I really appreciate it!

I may have to try that popsicle thing and it would be great if the pills didn't get stuck. I guess I'll just continue experimenting to see what ends up working best. All the more motivation to get more lbs. off and maybe get off some of these meds.

Thanks again!

Debbie

Ok Cathy, since you are doing the real band eating thing I have a question for you- or a few that I often wonder about.

1. if you can only eat a 1/2 cup of food per meal, 3 meals a day- do you know how many calories - and how much protien- and carbs you are getting? I just can't imagine how one could pack all that nutritionists say we should if all the food groups that you fit in your body will fit in a 1/2 cup.

2. so this is a piggy back question. what about salad, plain raw leafy veggies, is that supposed to fit in this half cup as well, or are you able to have more then a half cup with leafy veggies- or are we talkiing if the leaves were smooshed down, I just can't imagine - let's say we have fish or chicken or some type of protien - size of the deck of cards say- seems like that all by it's self would fill a 1/2 cup- but let's just say that it only fills half, and you can fit a 1/8 cup of veggies and a 1/8 cup of carb of some type- you see - I just am having trouble with visualizing eating right and still getting what I need, I hear people on forums say they do 1200 calories per day, so let's say 3 400 calorie meal- I just can't imagine fitting 400 calories in a 1/2 cup unless I sent it through the juicer first.

Yes it's true I should stop dreaming about eating, but I can't and I'd just like to visualize what my meals will be like so I can shop etc next week.

Lisa

Sorry but its time for personal venting... THANKS!

:tongue2: So its like 5 weeks post op now and .... there is pretty much no restriction and it'll be another 2 weeks before my first fill... Im not going crazy with the eating but eating too much to keep losing. I have maintained the same weight for 2.5 weeks now, since eating normal food. Saturday I was able to start back to fully normal food. I mean, I have had some junk but not soo bad (special occassions). Far from what I used to do. And I have been trying to replace some food with just Jello to help monitor calories, but with out much restriction its really hard and I don't do it all the time... I mean, I guess there is SOME restriction cause I do notice when I get full faster then before surgery but not nearly enough... I want to feel the way I did a few days after the surgery. You know... 2 spoons of jello and thats all that can fit...

I WANT MY FILLLLLLL. I go on October 19th... And I have began exercising... Sure, not as much as I could but I make sure I do at least a little. I've had a cold since Sunday so that limited my energy. GRRRRRR

Okay, enough with all blabber.... I hope that everyone is doing well! Seems that everyone is pretty good from what I read! :) Hopefully I will have better news on my end in a few days or weeks... lol:lol:

Hello All

I'm sorry I've been laxed in getting back on line. I'm doing well. My procedure was a week ago today. It was a little longer than they expected but all went well. No real pain, i actually didn't fill the pain script becuase it was too strong. On tylenol extra strength. Trying to get the nutrition right. I need more Protein. I lose strength so fast. My nutritionist said I could move to soft foods (a week early) so I can get more food in. How is everyone else? I am down 10lbs from surgery so in all I've lost 25.

I guess I was wishing to bounce back like I would have 20 years ago! Anyway, down 22 pounds- a little tired, but all in all doing well. This website has been so informative - and its good to hear from others going through the same thing- GOOD LUCK EVERYONE

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
