Going away post surgery?

With any luck I should be able to be banded in the beginning of December, my final month of 6 month monitored weight loss is towards the last week in November. SO I hope I can be approved quickly. I have been thinking of going to a veterinary conferance in January (I think it is like the 3rd week in Jan), so I would be maybe 6 weeks post op and should be able to eat regular food. Do you guys think it is worth the risk to have to eat out all the time for 5 days, or should I just wait until next year to go? I do not want to end up sabatoging myself. ANy advice would be fantastic.

Its different for everyone, but at 6 weeks out...I was barely eating scrambled eggs and cottage cheese. Thats all I could really eat that was solid that didn't bother me. Of course I still did the typical liquid diet...protein shakes, jello, broth...etc. I couldn't eat out at 6 weeks if I even wanted to.
