Getting stuck hurts!!!

Recommended Posts

I have been stuck a couple of times, but very briefly. It would hurt for a few seconds to a minute and then work it's way on down. Last night I came home from my run/walking program and was starving since I had not yet eaten dinner. I ate a few chips with salsa and then made myself a turkey on wheat sandwich, cut in half. I was so hungry I guess I wasn't paying attention to how fast I was eating the sandwich. I got the first half down and it started to HURT.:) I couldn't get it to come up (although it felt like it wanted to) or go down! I was hurting so bad, I couldn't hardly move. I started gurgling a little bit in my throat and mouth but no real saliva and no PB. Just lots of pain! After about 5 minutes it finally worked it's way on down. I was done! Couldn't go near another bite of food for the rest of the night last night! So I would say that was my first real stuck experience I suppose. I definitely do not want to go through that again anytime soon! I just recently added bread back into my diet and sometimes I can eat it and sometimes it hurts. Last night would have probably been okay except I know I ate it too fast! Oh well, this is a learning experience. Lesson learned!!!

wow - bread.....I have not had bread in a very long time - it just does not sit well with me at all! I know some people dont have problems with bread, and others are like me, no tolerance what-so-ever!

Wishing you only happy eats! and congrats on the running! Keep moving and the pounds keep coming off!

Yes. Getting stuck hurts. If it's really bad, I can feel it in my back. Sometimes I just have to give up and walk away from the food.< /p>

I had my first episode a couple nights ago. I also waited too long to eat dinner - was "starving". Made BBQ, took too big of bite and without thinking took a swallow of my 7up I had - oh boy, dont ever want to have that feeling again. Hurt so bad, slimed like crazy, gagged once but nothing came up. Finally after roughly 5 minutes it passed.

My worst came from bread. I was away on business, out to dinner. It lasted an hr and a half! Horrible!

I agree with everybody on here, there is nothing worse than getting "stuck". I have had 3 episodes this last 1 1/2 weeks because of eating too fast and/or too big of a bite and not chewing enough. I cannot live without papaya enzyme tablets. I keep some with me at all times, at work and at home. Just the other day got stuck on a piece of dry chicken and wanted to "die", ate 3 tablets and within 5 minutes it finally moved down. The panic I go through on getting stuck, does anybody else seem to panic like me? I guess it is part of our lives now, will I ever learn?

I don't have papaya enzyme tablets but sounds like I need to get some too! Yikes, I cannot imagine that pain lasting longer than 5 minutes! There is no way I could handle that kind of pain for that long! So weird how sometimes I can eat certain things with no problem, other times I can't. Sometimes I get really full very quickly and sometimes I can eat way past where I know I should be able to. This band is really tricky and I think it is definitely strange how it changes from day to day or even time of day on what/how much you can eat. I have only had 1 fill so far though so maybe it will be more consistent when I get more restriction......

I buy mine at Wal-Mart. About 5 bucks for a bottle. I'd think any drug store like Walgreens would have them too!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
