November bandsters unite!!

Recommended Posts

I just got over here yesterday and am thrilled to find great support and so much information!

My date is set for November 11. I actually could have done it sooner, but being a teacher, it was better for me to do it during a holiday weekend so I don't have to use up another sick day.

Anyway, if anyone else out there is scheduled for November, please come join here!! Let's do this journey together!

Hello, I am a school counselor and I'm getting banded on Nov. 23. I was going to have it today but didn't want to take off any more days. I had an abnormal EKG and had an ultrasound on my heart today. I have to go back next week for a stress test. I am getting excited!! I am a little tired of people at the hospital telling me that I'm too small to get the lapband. They are so supposed to be professionals. I am 5'5' and weigh 215. I have sleep apenea, HBP, high cholestrial, low Iron, low Calcium, low energy, and heavy for me. This journey is an individual one. When I attended the lapband class, everyone asked me Why are you here? I was shocked. Well, I'm getting this done no matter what to become a healthy new me.

Hi, I'm new here too. Being banded Nov 1 and am very excited about it. I started the process back in February, had to wait six months for my diet (BC/BS), and then wasted a lot of time getting cardiology clearance. But now I'm getting very excited! I'm 45, married mom of two, and my health is bad. The LAP-BAND® is a way for me to get more control over my health.

Sunshine, I also postponed mine a few weeks too. I am a teacher, and originally was going to do it in October. I held off till Nov 11, as that is a holiday weekend and will not have to use too many sick days either. I was so glad to have the summer off so that I could do all of the required pretesting!! That was s lot running around!!

Hi - I'm new here and am scheduled for my Lap Band surgery on 11/23 in DFW, Texas. I am excited and panicked all at the same time. Some days I'm excited and can't wait and then there are days like today where I am panic struck.......I can't figure myself out.

Am I alone? Anyone else nervous as all get out??

I think that we are all in the same boat. Im more excited than nervous. My husband is in the Navy, and we planned the surgery date when he was supposed to be here. Then they changed the date to being back on 2nd day post op, and now he's comming back on 5 day post op. Thankfully I have some friends to stay with to help me with my 11 month old daughter, otherwise I dont know what I would do. Im just worried about going back to work. Im supposed to be discharged the day I have the surgery, and my surgeon said that I could go back after 5 days because I dont lift anything, I just hope he is right.

Last night, I sat up late, could not sleep, thinking that I am making a mistake. I told myself that I can do this on my own, save the money (I'm paying for this myself) and just stick to a diet plan and get it done. I did a lot of research but then last night, I started looking up all the "bad" stuff instead of the "good". I cried and cried, thinking that I shouldn't do this.

I think the reason I am thinking this way is that I'm not a person that needs to lose 150 ro 175 lb......If I loose 55 lbs or so, I'm looking thin!! So last night, I'm telling myself, why go through this for such a small amount of weight loss? Just stop eating!! (yeah, right......)

As much research as I've done, I think the one thing that I never knew, that I read last night, is that Lap Band isn't good for those who love sweets! Why that little tid-bit was not known to me, I don't know......I really LOVE chocolate!! To think that I cannot ever have that again is a horrible thought. Then I heard, no popcorn........I think the thing that is making me think this over again is that I need to be sure that it's okay with me, that I never eat certain foods again, even in moderation.

Anyway, at this point, I'm torn and am going to sit down with my husband tonight and talk. It's an important decision that now, I am re-thinking

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
