1st Fill 12/30/10
I was banded on 11/23/10 and lost 14 pounds. I keep losing and gaining the same 4lbs. I had my 1st fill on 12/30 and only received 1cc. I was mad. I asked the nurse practioner if I could get more and she no. She said the Dr. likes it to be small at first. I wanted 2 or 3 cc's. I started exercising. People are noticing that I am losing weight but I can't see it. I can feel it in my clothes. I am losing inches because I can fit a shirt and that I couldn't fit before. I bought a shirt that was smaller 3 months ago on purpose to see if I could fit it now and I can. I was shocked. I am a low bander. My bmi was 35 and now its 33. I am still obese. I am going for a fill this Thursday. I hope to have restriction. I am eating a cup of food. I started eating 2 Protein shakes (lunch and dinner) and I have a good lunch (baked chicken, tuna fish, Soup, veggies, etc). I hope this helps the weight come off. I try not to eat a lot of carbs. I thought I was the only one feeling this way. Let's encourage each other:)

Beginning as a low BMI bandster
HI Everyone, I was banded on Tuesday, November 23,2010. I am in no pain except for getting in/out of the bed. My lower part of my stomach is sore. I have 2 incisions and 2 by my breast. I asked the dr. could he go in the belly button and he said sure. I had a good dr., dr. morales in st.louis. I prayed that I wouldn't have any pain. I don't have much of an appetitie either. I have been walking 10 minutes throughout the day. I have been taking my medicine and sleeping a lot. I'm glad that I made this decision. I want to lose weight slow so that it will stay off. Thanks Leigha and Band Groupie for all your support.

Beginning as a low BMI bandster
thank you so much. i had to do a stress test today and the dr. and assistant asked me if I was sure I wanted to do this and I said yes. he was very funny. i told him that i would visit in 8 months to see my new look. as i was running on the treadmill he said this want you need instead of the stupid lapband. he was joking but he was serious.

Beginning as a low BMI bandster
hi everyone, i'm getting banded on nov. 23rd. my bmi is 35 and i'm 5'5'. i carry my weight well but i have a big stomach. i haven't had kids to cause this except for eating. i want the band for my health and vanity. i have hbp, high cholestral (sp), sleep apnea. I have gained so much weight over the years that people ask me if i'm still the same person. my dr. is very supportive of me getting the band but the nurses at the hospital tell me that i'm too small. i think they need to mind their own business and get the band too. i'm excited. i'm glad that i found this thread.

On the Cusp - need advice please! :)
hi, i am getting banded on nov. 23. my bmi is 35. my surgeon told me that i am a perfect candidate for the band because i don't have a lot of weight to lose and minimal health problems. i have high blood pressure, sleep apnea, high cholesteral, and my insurance took me. i have united health care. you'll be fine.

What am I doing wrong!!?
That was excellent advice. I will follow it when I get banded on November 23. I weight 215 with a bmi of 35. My goal weigt is 140. I am so tired of the hospital staff telling me that I am too small to get the lapband and I shouldn't get it. Did you go through this? The nurses at the weight loss center has been very supportive but other doctors from the EKG, Blood, resp. I am glad to see that you made your goal.

November bandsters unite!!
Hello, I am a school counselor and I'm getting banded on Nov. 23. I was going to have it today but didn't want to take off any more days. I had an abnormal EKG and had an ultrasound on my heart today. I have to go back next week for a stress test. I am getting excited!! I am a little tired of people at the hospital telling me that I'm too small to get the lapband. They are so supposed to be professionals. I am 5'5' and weigh 215. I have sleep apenea, HBP, high cholestrial, low iron, low calcium, low energy, and heavy for me. This journey is an individual one. When I attended the lapband class, everyone asked me Why are you here? I was shocked. Well, I'm getting this done no matter what to become a healthy new me.

hi, i am getting banded very soon i hope. i have united healthcare choice plus. i was wondering why it took 9 months for the surgery. i have completed all the paperwork except psy, which is next week. the dietician is this friday. did they require you to do a series of diets. i wish you well on your surgery.

thank you for responding. do you mind if we keep in contact. i can learn a lot from you and you from me. when i had my psy done last year, i was told that i didn't need it and the Dr. would not approve me getting it done. She was over 300lbs and unhealthy herself. I love exercising but it is the snacking. when i don't see results when i exercise, i give up. i want to see results and i believe that this will motivate me to exercise more and eat right. how is the surgery and pain. i hope you get to your goal weight. please let me know how things are going.
