I know how you feel. I felt like I was a crackhead getting sent to rehab! I even felt a bit depressed and pissed for a couple of weeks after my surgery. Now, I feel great and it gets better as time goes on because I can see the weight loss now! Don't worry, you will do great! It's hard to do something so nice for yourself sometimes! =)

In my line of work I see a lot of abusive relationships. Mostly women being physically abused by their lover. That is how I am looking at this banding thing.

1. I am in a relationship with something that I love that makes be feel horrible about myself, makes me hate myself for the way I look, and something that makes me so dependent that I think I can't live without it.

2. If I was in a person to person relationship with someone that made me feel like that I would need to leave, or die. Case in point, I love food, and it abuses me, or I abuse myself with it.

3. In bad relationships the one being hurt always feels like it will be better this time, this time I can control him/her, this time it won't happen again. Will I abuse food again if I decide not to get banded....yup probably. Will I continue in this pattern for the rest of my life....yup probably.

On September 13th I am divorcing food, I am deciding the the relationship we are in is not working for me. Am I going to have a break up phase...yup probably....am I gonna recover and learn to love ME again....yup FOR SURE!

My surgery is in 12 days and as much as I want this for myself, I am just as nervous, too! All your fears are justified and are completely normal. Looking back, in say 6 months - we will all be in a different world, living a different, much healthier and slimmer life. I send prayers for safe travel, procedure and recovery. We can do this.

I did it! I am banded! I have a pain build (like a cathedar attached to my belly to help with the pain. I am also on painkillers.

I get up and waslk every 3-4 hours. This is not too bad.

Woohoo!!!! Congrats Sarah!!! I am soo happy your doing good. I also had my surgery yesterday and other then feeling sore I feel great. I am up and walking a lot.. my surgeon told me that it will also help the soreness of my tummy feel better. I to had a pump put in my belly for pain meds but had to pull that out last night due to it leaking. I was nervous about taking it out and thought I would for sure be in worse pain without it but so far so good

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
