Newbie and Sleep Diagnostic Tomorrow :-)

Hi everyone! I'm new here and I'm just getting started with the whole process of getting the Lap Band. I have been overweight for my entire life. Tomorrow I am going in to have a Sleep Diagnostic to see if I have Sleep Apnea. I have been told on many occasions that I hold my breath when I sleep. The problem that I am facing is my sister taking this whole process as a complete joke. The Sleep Diagnostic people asked to get her to document what she has seen while I have slept. When I asked her, she just laughed and said, "OMG! you don't stop breathing you just pause." Keep in mind that this is coming from someone who for her entire life has been the pretty one and a size 2. I just don't know what to do because I feel like I'm not getting any support in this decision. I know I'm just venting, but I feel like someone here will be able to relate or give me advice. I would completely appreciate it! Also does anyone have Blue Shield of California HMO? and how hard was it to get approval? Thanks!! :)

I have BC BS of California HMO too ! I did my first sleep study last week and one with the CPAP last night. I have mild slee apnea, but I also have high blood pressure. I was researching the same thing on this forum.

Tell your sister to write in her observations that you "pause" breathing in your sleep. I hope she helps you out, tell her how important it is to you.

I am going to my seminar next Wednesday.

GOOD LUCK !!!!
