Recommended Posts

It's hard to have the energy to focus typing..I'm a 37 y/o teacher from Michigan..was banded July 28...a part of me wishes I was still in the hospital....home with a 2y/o and a bing eating husband (who's gettin bypass in Sept)..makes it really rough

Supose to be only drinkin Optifast now...and sick of it....the gas is so bad, I have no patience for my daughter...my mind is going thru withdrawl and at times I feel like i just may starve to death...(most of it is in my head)...at times i feel like i'm gettin mini anxiety attacks

I can't wait until I can eat atleast pureed stuff..

It will be nice to talk to you all and get to know you better

Suffering Stacy

It took me about a week before I felt like going back on the computer. For the gas pains, try using a heating pad, it really helped for me. You should feel better before school starts up again. I also work for a school district, so I had my surgery the first day after school ended, before summer...Good luck to you and your husband!

Yeah make sure the DR called in your RX (The liquid Hydrocodone makes the first week very bareable). Make sure you are not picking up your child as that can really hurt you in the first few weeks. Bonk your husband on the head and remind him that he needs to be nicer to you because very shortly he is gonna be in your shoes and revenge is sweet lol

Suffering Stacy,

I was banded on the 29th, and at first I thought I was gonna die. Today I am starting to feel better to the point where I want to go do something (ride my motorcycle), but that's probably not gonna happen. Luckily, my ex-wife kept my child during this last weekend. Only had my stepson and wife here. It was tough not getting cranky with him, but I am pretty sure it was the surgery causing that.

Cannot even imagine having that kind of stress on me after what we just went through. Maybe it will calm down a bit today.

Btw, it was nice meeting you.

Manic Mike

Hi Stacy, I was banded on Friday the 30th and still having discomfort and pain, I have a 2 yr old as well and I know what you mean it is hard taking care of them, luckily my husband was here all weekend to help since I had surgery on a friday but he went back to work today and I ended up calling my mom to come get my son at 830am this morning. I am really bad in the morning no to mention I started my period so I got a double whammo! I am just trying to take it day by day and trying to get Protein and liquid in but its hard...hang in there and if you want to talk get in touch with me!!

Hi Stacy and Nicole,

Hang in there, ladies - it does get better!

For gas pains - try short periods of walking - it really helped me when I was banded in Nov 08. I'm coming to my second bandiversary and I still occasionally get gas pains from something I ate (especially if I haven't had it for a while). The gas pain from surgery will eventually go away, and activity helps that.

Take your little ones with you - the walk will do them good and you may find yourself with a new walking partner! Follow your doctor's orders regarding lifting anything heavier than 10 lbs - and that means your kiddos too! Don't be afraid to ask for help from your family - and if they resist, then DEMAND help - you just had major surgery - no matter if it was laparascopic! You are in recovery for the first 6 weeks - and the pattern you set now will follow through the rest of your banded experience. Put yourself FIRST for the recovery period - allow your family to step up (and dare I say, grow up) while you are recovering. You may be surprised (and them too) at how capable they can be.

Good luck to you both and welcome to Bandland!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
