Looking for September 2010 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I never thought I would say this... but I miss my Optifast shakes!! I started the Only Clear liquid portion of my diet today.. I have had tea, Jello and chicken broth... three things I will NOT have when I get back on food.. ha ha Anyway was sooo good all weekend.. no cheating AT ALL, and gained a pound!!! Isn't that a kicker.. I don't feel bad ( which is weird) becuase I know I did everything right.. so I will see changes soon.. I also realized that I have not had a BM ( sorry TMI) in about 3 days.. so that could be it too.. The only thing that I am nervous about tomorrow is the Milk of Magnesia that I have to take!! yikes less than 48 hours!!! Talk to you all after surgery!! Good Luck to all those just starting the pre-op.. It went a lot faster than I imagined.. and NOT that bad either.

Bet you have a BM tomorrow. :cursing:

I was so fortunate not to be required to drink the poo poo juice. Just think the next time you have a BM, you'll be banded.

Approved!!! I got the call this morning. If I weren't too fat to do cartwheels, I'd be doing them now!!!

I got the call while I was in the hospital doing pre-op testing. That was quick and hopefully went well too.

What a terrific day!! Good luck to everyone getting banded this week. I'll be there in exactly 14 days.

hey everyone, i'm so excited to announce that my surgery is booked for the 3rd September. I am travelling from London to Belgium as a self pay.

Esin, That's in 4 days!, congratulations. I know you will have a fast recovery. Keep us post it when you get time.:cursing:

I am actually feeling great today. Still a little sore and slow to get out of bed but other than that its all good. I did not really have much gas pains that everyone talks about. I did feel them the worst when on Friday when I would sit up, so basically I was flat on my back most of the day. Saturday the pains were very minimal and really only felt pressure when I went to cough, hiccup, etc. I took my pain medication all day Friday and Saturday and Saturday night. It's been 24 hours now without pain medication and it's going well. I still don't want to get into the car and go anywhere nor do I want to go back to bed. So I guess this phase this the couch potato phase.

Still not thinking much about food but my husband thinks I must still drink my Protein Shakes to keep my blood sugars normal. So when ever I am awake my husband is asking me to drink, tea, Water and Protein shakes. I like the Popsicle and it was suggested to try Greek Yogurt, which is actually pretty good. Does not taste like our plain slippery yogurt, more like sour cream.

Cathy, When it's my turn I hope my recovery be just as fast as yours and I fill just as good.

There's a old saying " when one has found a good man, one has found a good thing." Cathy you are bless there's not to many can say that. Your DH remind me of my DH. Always caring for me and want to take care of me.

I am having my surgery tomorrow, August 31st. I thought that was close enough! Good luck! Jennifer

Jennifer, Wishing you a fast and healthy recovery.

:smile2::thumbup: Congratulations :smile::thumbup:

Hi EVERYONE and Happy Monday (if mondays are ever happy!)

So much to read after 3 days (yeah never really on the computer from Friday night-Monday or Tuesday). I hope everyone is good!

Cathy- so glad you are doing well! I think its okay to be a couch potato for a few more days!

Welcome all the newbies! I love that our family keeps growing! :smile2:

Rebecca- OMG those recepies sound awesome! I will def. try some of them! YUMMM.

Congrats to all those newly approved and or got dates!

What does that mean to shrink your liver & why do you have to do that. I don't remember my doctor telling me anything about that. My BMI is 39.9. Can someone explain? Sorry if I posted in the wrong reply just in case I am new to all this.

Most of us have been told by our surgeons that it there is a 1 week "pre-op diet" which mostly consists of low fat/low cal protien drinks, fat free yogart, fat free frozen yogart, sugar free Jello, sugar free/fat free pudding and low sodium/low cal/low fat Soup. Some people have different diets which are just low fat. The pursose of this diet is to "shrink" the liver which means that its easier to perform the surgery. The surgeon has to lift the liver to get to the stomach. The smaller the liver, the less it weighs, the easier to lift with the tiny tools to do the surgery!

Not all people on this site have been given a pre-op diet but I think its a good idea anyway in order to better succeed and prepare yourself for the new lifestyle and eating changes that will occurr with the surgery.

PS- my pre-op has been good since saturday-- it was difficult tonight when my dad made an awesome dinner... the aroma filled the whole house! it smelt soooo good but I survived.. while they ate that, I ate my soup! :cursing:

The diet is not that bad 11 days in, my wife has done this diet with me-what support. This week is all liquids but the weight loss has stalled, oh well, I suppose my liver is done doing what livers do? lol Encouraging to read all of your posts, you ARE helping me...:cursing:

I am thinking that you can go as long as you take it easy. You can't do any heavy lifting, jumping or bending. You may be in some pain but I doubt that it will be unbareable by then.. liquid Tylenol should do the trick. But keep in mind, you won't be able to eat solid food or drink beer (well I guess you can but its probably a good idea NOT to!) Can you go to a tailgate party with out eating the unhealthy foods thats usually involved? Can you avoid jumping around? If yes, then you will probably be fine. But you will have to be the judge of that after the surgery... you may not feel ready to do that type of event, but then again, you may! I'd say, take it as it comes. Plan to go but leave room for an escape plan.

welcome , and congrats to all new bandsters. It's encouraging to see how well we are doing. today is day 4 of my pr-op and going ok. Tommorow my ekg and bloodwork at the hospital and then reality is really going to set in. The only thing i've missed is not being able to bite into something and chew. Gum would help but I have a mouthful of dental caps. Anyone have some suggestions?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
