Where is your port at anyway?

Recommended Posts

My cousin who was banded a few months ago has her port on the front of her belly below her rib cage. Another friend of mine who was banded 4 years ago has hers on her side- she says sometimes her pants rub it and it bothers hurt. She said I should ask to get mine on my belly under my ribs.

so where is yours at??

Mine is on my left side, under my ribcage. But before I had surgery, the NP asked me which side I preferred! I asked if the surgeon had any preference, and she said "it depends on which side he's standing on"! I didn't care, but if you do, make sure they know which is the best side for you :bolt:

Good luck!!!

Mine's on the right between ribcage and belly button level...surgeon operates from the patients right side so this is his favorite place to put 'em...says consistancy in placement makes the fills easier. Whatever. It works and I don't notice it!

My port is IN my belly button. Apparently this is a fairly new technique- I think it's weird. I'm on a week post op, so I don't know yet if it's going to be bothersome.

I am preband and I told the surgeon that I am a right side sleeper; so he said he would put it on the left side below the ribs.

Another suggestion that might be helpful for future bandsters.... my surgeon asked me to draw with a marker on my tummy where my pants and bra sit on the day of surgery. This way he would know where NOT to put the port... very thoughtful! :bolt:

mine is directly inbetween by belly-button and my ribcage (in the center of my abdomenal area)

Mine is in the center of my upper tummy. About 2 inches below my bra line. I told my doc that I wanted to get pregnant and he said where he puts the port wont affect that. Also there is less fat in that area so it is easier to find the port and get a fill. When I lay on my back you can feel the port very easily, but I like that. I know where it is and I know that they can find it easily too.

The only down side is that my sports bras kindof hit that area. It really dosnt hurt but I can feel it sometimes. No big deal though.

GOOD LUCK :bolt:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
