band poisons me

Recommended Posts

Im also happy to hear you're okay.I meant to say that in my text.I heard that once you're banded.you cant have carbonated beverages for how long?not that im addicted to cokes, pepsi etc..just wanted info

I was told by my particular band doc that the carbonation would cause discomfort. I am not a carbonated drinker, but I do know of others who do drink coke and pepsi drinks, and it doesn't bother them. Good luck on your path!

I just know I can't live like this. I gained the 40lbs back I lost so the band's not helping me anyway. Before the steroids I could barely move. Getting out of a chair took alot of effort. With the roids it decreased the pain by like 60%. I still hurt bad, but I can get around a little easier. I'll know more after I talk to doc on Tues. Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. Darlene

I'm glad that we have discussed your health further in private messages. I know how hard it was for me to decide whether or not my band needed to go. My band doc was almost mad at me, it seemed, when I told him my choice. I pray you find peace with your decision and good health in your near future.

Hello, I was banded March '08 and I started having joint and muscle pain that came on slowly since Feb of this year. Doc's have tested me out the butt and no answers. I'm wondering if this can be caused from the band? My port area is slightly tender, has been the entire time. [Had the band emptied about 1 month ago.] I'm now on steroids so I can move. I've been nauseated for about 2 months now [no puking] so Doc tested gall bladder and all's well. Also had the camara-down-the-throat test and no erosion. I even had a spinal tap done!! It also came back fine. Could I some how be rejecting this band? My body is attcking my muscles and joints because of this band??!! I called lap doc and told him that I want it removed ASAP. I go this Tues. for a check and I'm telling him I want it out. Is anyone else experiencing similar problems? Neck and severe shoulder pain, deep in the joint and on the surface. Chest pain up to collar bone. Lower back and hip pain, also deep and surface. Knee and the bones in the feet hurting. It's awful!!

Did you have any joint or muscle pain bullpen87?

Sorry to hear you are going through that. To be quite honest, it sounds alot like what I go through when I have a "Fibromyalgia" flare-up. You might also want to have your doc test you for Epstein-Barr Virus. During one of my most severe bouts I tested positive for it and absolutely felt like I was dying. It lasted about 2 months and then went away after many steroids/pounds gained later! =( Hope you get some answers and start feeling better!

I just did some research on the silicone poisoning thing.....

ALOT of my symptoms are the same as theirs!!! I wonder if the silicone in the band is causing all this!? I'm looking into it more. I wonder how many people are suffering like me and have no idea that their bands may be causing their problems. It's like having severe arthritis and gall bladder problems at the same time.

Thanks for your reply. Just courious, were you diagnosed with Fibro before or after you were banded? I'm currently on steroids and they do help about 60% or so. Doc took about a dozen tubes of blood and xrays [still no word on those.] I don't know if they were looking for Epstein-Barr.

I also have Fibromyalgia/arthritis & symptoms sound the same. I was diagnosed 4 yrs prior to getting banded. I was just banded 4wks ago. I know how frustrating it is not knowing what is wrong. I went years b4 they figured it out. Im praying that you get the answers &test results you need to make your decision. Wishing you the best. Please keep us posted. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. :(

YOU are sometimes your best doctor. I urge you to continue to gather legitimate answers to your questions. DON'T GIVE UP. Don't get down either. Be proactive in your health. Isn't that why we got the band in the first place? Keep us posted!

I just got done reading ALOT of info on breast implants and silicone poisoning. I really don't know who to ask about this. I contacted lap-doc and asked if my band could be causing my problems and he said he didn't think so. I'll talk to my arthritis doc in a few weeks and I'll also get some of my blood tests results then.

I have been telling the docs, family, band, neurologist, heart and arthritis that something's definetley wrong, this isn't ME, I never had any sort of problems like this. Thank you all for your support, up until now I've felt so lonely in this!!

It finally took a gastrointerologist to give me some sound advice. This after 3 ER docs, my lap band doc and his "associates" , and my family doc. I know the discomfort you are feeling. I was gravely sick for three weeks. My life had stopped. All I could do was belch, dry heave and live in discomfort.

I don't know how close to correct I am, it was just an obvious connection to me. Hope all works out well for you!

Thanks Murpel, I'm doing research and it really looks like this maybe my band giving me all these symptoms. I'm going to see lap doc tues and tell him I want it out. If he doesn't agree, I'll fing someone who will. I can't and won't live like this! For 2 days I was getting severe spasmsshocks in my middle toes [left foot] that would make me scream and jump up and run. Scared the hell out of my daughter! It only lasted for a few seconds but I didn't know when they'd hit. Happened over 2 dozen times in 2 days, now gone [hopefully for good!] Felt like someone was trying to rip my toes off!!:(

That is horrible. I hope the band removal is the answer. While I don't want the band to have caused this, I DO want you out of pain and discomfort! you must do what you must do!

Should you need another surgery down the road... then maybe the bypass is your ticket. The sleeve would only insert another foreign object into your system.

I wish you good health and a speedy recovery. Please let us know how you are doing.

Confused. How does a sleeve insert another foreign object into your system?

I called the band doc and got squeezed in today. I can't wait until next week. I'm telling him I want it out ASAP. I will let you all know what he says [andor does.]

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
